PERFORMANCE OPTIMIZATION AND MOLECULAR DYNAMICS MECHANISM OF COMPOSITE INSULATING SILICONE RUBBER AFTER ELECTRIC HEATING POST-TREATMENT

open access: yesMateriali in Tehnologije
This study investigates the optimization of composite silicone rubber (SR) through a physical electrothermal post-treatment process that functions as an efficient structural annealing method.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Performance and Mechanism Research on ZnO Varistor Ceramics Prepared by Microwave Sintering

open access: yesInternational Journal of Ceramic Engineering & Science
To solve the problems of high sintering temperature, uneven grain growth, and limited electrical property optimization in traditional ZnO varistor ceramics, this study adopted microwave sintering (1000°C–1100°C, ZnO matrix with Bi2O3 dopants), using ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

River rejuvenation on a fluvial fan induced by typhoons and earthquakes

open access: yesnpj Natural Hazards
This study investigates decadal-scale river rejuvenation and migration in Taiwan’s Mu-Gua River watershed, influenced by typhoons and earthquakes. Typhoon Ofelia (1990) caused rapid sediment aggradation and channel instability, leading to severe damage ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.
