Routhian reduction for quasi-invariant Lagrangians [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Math. Phys. 51(2) 2010, 2009
In this paper we describe Routhian reduction as a special case of standard symplectic reduction, also called Marsden-Weinstein reduction. We use this correspondence to present a generalization of Routhian reduction for quasi-invariant Lagrangians, i.e. Lagrangians that are invariant up to a total time derivative.

Recursions of Symmetry Orbits and Reduction without Reduction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We consider a four-dimensional PDE possessing partner symmetries mainly on the example of complex Monge-Amp\`ere equation (CMA). We use simultaneously two pairs of symmetries related by a recursion relation, which are mutually complex conjugate for CMA ...

Exceptional reductions [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Physics A: Mathematical and Theoretical, 2011
Starting from basic identities of the group E8, we perform progressive reductions, namely decompositions with respect to the maximal and symmetric embeddings of E7xSU(2) and then of E6xU(1). This procedure provides a systematic approach to the basic identities involving invariant primitive tensor structures of various irreprs.

Reduction and construction of Poisson quasi-Nijenhuis manifolds with background [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We extend the Falceto-Zambon version of Marsden-Ratiu Poisson reduction to Poisson quasi-Nijenhuis structures with background on manifolds. We define gauge transformations of Poisson quasi-Nijenhuis structures with background, study some of their ...

Control-oriented implementation and model order reduction of a lithium-ion battery electrochemical model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The use of electrochemical models makes it computationally intractable for online implementation as the model is subject to a complicated mathematical structure including partial-differential equations (PDE).

Boundary reduction formula [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
An asymptotic theory is developed for general non-integrable boundary quantum field theory in 1+1 dimensions based on the Langrangean description. Reflection matrices are defined to connect asymptotic states and are shown to be related to the Green ...

Voltage Distribution and Flashover Performance of 220 kV Composite Insulators under Different Icing Conditions

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
Composite insulators are widely used in modern power systems to provide electrical insulation and mechanical support for transmission lines and substations.

Reduction of Vaisman structures in complex and quaternionic geometry [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Geom. Phys. 56 (2006), no. 12, 2501--2522, 2005
We consider locally conformal Kaehler geometry as an equivariant (homothetic) Kaehler geometry: a locally conformal Kaehler manifold is, up to equivalence, a pair (K,\Gamma) where K is a Kaehler manifold and \Gamma a discrete Lie group of biholomorphic homotheties acting freely and properly discontinuously.

Upconversion of Reductants

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, 2019
AbstractThe many applications of photon upconversion—conversion of low‐energy photons into high‐energy photons—raises the question of the possibility of “electron upconversion”. In this Review, we illustrate how the reduction potential can be increased by using the free energy of exergonic chemical reactions.
