Reductive Capacity of Natural Reductants

Environmental Science & Technology, 2002
Reductive capacities of soil minerals and soil for Cr(VI) and chlorinated ethylenes were measured and characterized to provide basic knowledge for in-situ and ex-situ treatment using these natural reductants. The reductive capacities of iron-bearing sulfide (pyrite), hydroxide (green rust; GR(SO4)), and oxide (magnetite) minerals for Cr(VI) and ...

Reduction languages and reduction systems

1987
This paper gives an overview over reduction languages and a machine and system concept which directly supports the execution of reduction language programs. Following a brief introduction into the idea of functional programming, we address in some detail three reduction language approaches (λ-expression, combinators and combining forms) and a concept ...

Reductive Groups are Geometrically Reductive

The Annals of Mathematics, 1975
Let G be a semi-simple algebraic group over an algebraically closed field, k. Let G act rationally by automorphisms on the finitely generated k-algebra, R. The problem of proving that the ring of invariants, RG, is finitely generated originates with the invariant theorists of the nineteenth century.

Image reduction with local reduction operators

International Conference on Fuzzy Systems, 2010
In this work we propose an image reduction algorithm based on weak local reduction operators. We use several averaging functions to build these operators and we analyze their properties. We present experimental results where we apply the algorithm and weak local reduction operators in procedures of reduction, and later, reconstruction of images.

Plaque Reduction Unaccompanied by Gingivitis Reduction

Journal of Periodontology, 1986
The effects of brushing with three different dentifrices on plaque accumulation and gingival inflammation were studied in 83 subjects. The Turesky modification of the QuigleyHein plaque index and a modified Löe‐Silness gingivitis index were employed.
