Preparation of hydrophilic iron-carbon sustained-release composite and its performance on enhancing biological reductive dechlorination of groundwater

open access: yes上海师范大学学报. 自然科学版, 2023
In this paper, a nano-zero valent iron(nZVI)-polylactic acid(PLA)-biochar(BC) composite with sodium lignosulfonate(SL) as a surface modifier was prepared by a two-step ball milling method.

Detoxification of 1,1,2-trichloroethane to ethene by desulfitobacterium and identification of its functional reductase gene.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
1,1,2-trichloroethane (1,1,2-TCA) has become a common groundwater pollutant due to historically extensive utilization, improper disposal, as well as from incomplete dechlorination of 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane.

Bioelectrochemical single reactor for reductive and oxidative removal of trichloroethylene from contaminated groundwater

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Technology &Biotechnology, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND Chlorinated aliphatic hydrocarbons such as trichloroethylene (TCE) are persistent groundwater contaminants due to improper disposal and low biodegradability. This work presents an innovative bioelectrochemical system for the integrated reductive/oxidative removal of TCE from contaminated water, implemented in a single tubular ...

Abundance of atrazine degrading genes trzN versus atzA in soil cultures and in situ degradation rates

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Atrazine degradation in agricultural soils showed in situ half‐lives of 36–225 days. Field and laboratory results indicate active microbial hydrolysis driven mainly by trzN. Biphasic degradation sustains long‐term persistence, maintaining the potential for groundwater contamination despite reduced immediate leaching risk.

Temporal Evolution of Contaminant Mass Discharge: Effect of Source Remediation at Contaminated Sites

open access: yesGroundwater Monitoring &Remediation, EarlyView.
Abstract Contaminant mass discharge (CMD) is a key metric for evaluating remediation performance at contaminated sites posing a risk to groundwater. This study assesses temporal CMD trends and associated uncertainties using a geostatistical approach at a chlorinated solvent contaminated site following source zone remediation, supported by two decades ...

Development and Characterization of a Chloroethenes-Dechlorinating Consortium Using Gluconate as a Hydrogen Donor

open access: yesJournal of Water and Environment Technology, 2020
To evaluate the effectiveness of gluconate as a potential hydrogen donor for reductive dechlorination of chloroethenes, we developed a trichloroethene (TCE)-dechlorinating consortium from chloroethenes-contaminated groundwater containing Dehalococcoides ...

Basics and Perspectives of Visible and Near‐UV Light‐Induced Defluorination of Perfluoroalkylsubstances by Semiconductor Nanocrystals

open access: yesChemPhotoChem, Volume 10, Issue 6, June 2026.
This review highlights recent advances in the light‐driven destruction of persistent per‐ and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) using semiconductor nanocrystals. By exploiting nonlinear photophysical and photochemical processes, these nanomaterials harness energy‐efficient visible and near‐UV light‐emitting diodes (LEDs) to drive extreme reduction ...
