Liebig Review: Essential and Beneficial Elements in the Regulation of Cadmium Uptake and Tolerance in Crop Plants

open access: yesJournal of Plant Nutrition and Soil Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Cadmium (Cd2+) contamination in agricultural soils has been reported to pose risks to crop productivity, food safety, and human health. This review synthesizes current knowledge on the mechanisms by which essential (S, Zn, Fe, Mg, K, Ca) and beneficial (Si, Se, rare earth elements) elements mitigate Cd2+ toxicity in plants.

Outcomes and adverse effects of teduglutide treatment with periodic withdrawal in pediatric short bowel patients

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition, EarlyView.
Abstract Objectives We evaluated the efficacy and safety of teduglutide in a real‐world cohort in which national reimbursement policies required treatment interruptions. The primary outcomes were reduction in parenteral support (PS) and treatment‐related adverse effects, and the secondary outcome was the impact of the mandated withdrawal periods ...

Characteristics of Treated Monazite in Different Particle Sizes to Upgrade the Rare Earth Elements Content by Using Mechanochemical and Roasting Processes

open access: yesInternational Journal of Technology
Rare earth metals (REE) constitute one of the most crucial groups of elements globally. In Indonesia, deposits of REE have been recognized within monazite minerals extracted from tin mining operations in Bangka.

Leader Succession and Strategic Change: The Role of Leader's Subgroups Size

open access: yesStrategic Change, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Research suggests that new CEO successors drive strategic change through the subgroup of their immediate collaborators. However, it remains unclear how this subgroup is configured. In this research, we address this limitation by introducing a new concept of “CEO's subgroup size” (the number of TMT members in the CEO's subgroup).

Efficacy and safety of a popular thermogenic drink after 28 days of ingestion

open access: yesJournal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, 2008
Background We have recently demonstrated that consuming a thermogenic drink (TD) acutely increases energy expenditure and serum markers of lipolysis in healthy, college-aged individuals.

Non-discrete Euclidean buildings for the Ree and Suzuki groups

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Mathematics, 2010
We call a non-discrete Euclidean building a {\it Bruhat-Tits space} if its automorphism group contains a subgroup that induces the subgroup generated by all the root groups of a root datum of the building at infinity. This is the class of non-discrete Euclidean buildings introduced and studied by Bruhat and Tits.

Vliv intervenčních programů na změny klidového energetického výdeje Effects of intervention programs on changes in resting energy expenditure

open access: yesActa Universitatis Palackianae Olomucensis. Gymnica, 2007
Cílem naší studie bylo posoudit vliv dvou typů redukčních programů na změny klidového energetického výdeje (REE) u skupiny žen středního věku s nadměrnou hmotností.

Resting and Exercise Energy Metabolism After Liver Transplantation for Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis

open access: yesTransplantation Direct, 2017
Background. Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is a leading indication for liver transplantation (LT). We hypothesized that weight gain after LT may be exacerbated by reduced metabolic rates due to the LT procedure, particularly during exercise.

Finite linear spaces admitting a Ree simple group

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Combinatorics, 2004
This is one of a long series of papers attempting to classify those finite groups which can act line-transitively on a finite linear space. The authors prove that if the group \(G\) is isomorphic to a Ree group the linear space is the Ree unitary space. They show first that the group is primitive in the action on points.
