Output-Sensitive Construction of Reeb Graphs

IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics, 2012
The Reeb graph of a scalar function represents the evolution of the topology of its level sets. This paper describes a near-optimal output-sensitive algorithm for computing the Reeb graph of scalar functions defined over manifolds or non-manifolds in any dimension.

Topological morphing using Reeb graphs

First International Symposium on Cyber Worlds, 2002. Proceedings., 2003
Metamorphosis between 3D objects is often the transformation between a pair of shapes that have the same topology. This paper presents a new model using Reeb graphs and their contours to create morphing between 3D objects having different topology.

Reeb Graphs of Piecewise Linear Functions

2017
The Reeb graph is a popular tool in the field of computational topology for shape analysis. The Reeb graph is usually thought of as a transform from shapes, viewed as spaces endowed with functions, to graphs. It finds its roots in the classical Morse theory, where the Reeb graph transform is granted to produce a graph, but it finds its applications ...

Reeb graph computation based on a minimal contouring

2008 IEEE International Conference on Shape Modeling and Applications, 2008
Given a manifold surface M and a continuous function f:M->R, the Reeb graph of (M,f) is a widely-used high-level descriptor of M and its usefulness has been demonstrated for a variety of applications, which range from shape parameterization and abstraction to deformation and comparison.

3D Mesh decomposition using Reeb graphs

Image and Vision Computing, 2009
Decomposition of complex 3D objects into simpler sub-parts is a challenging research subject with relevant outcomes for several application contexts. In this paper, an approach is proposed for decomposition of 3D objects based on Reeb graphs. The approach is motivated by perceptual principles and supports identification of salient object protrusions ...

Reeb graph representation of surfaces with boundary

Proceedings Shape Modeling Applications, 2004., 2004
Reeb graphs can be used in many applications to construct simple graph-like sketches of shapes, which retain the topology/connectivity of the original shape. In this paper, our Reeb graph representation is extended to generic surfaces with boundary.

Constructing Reeb graphs using cylinder maps

Proceedings of the twenty-sixth annual symposium on Computational geometry, 2010
The Reeb graph of a scalar function represents the evolution of the topology of its level sets. In this video, we describe a near-optimal output-sensitive algorithm for computing the Reeb graph of scalar functions defined over manifolds. Key to the simplicity and efficiency of the algorithm is an alternate definition of the Reeb graph that considers ...

Computing Reeb Graphs as a Union of Contour Trees

IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics, 2013
The Reeb graph of a scalar function tracks the evolution of the topology of its level sets. This paper describes a fast algorithm to compute the Reeb graph of a piecewise-linear (PL) function defined over manifolds and non-manifolds. The key idea in the proposed approach is to maximally leverage the efficient contour tree algorithm to compute the Reeb ...
