A Novel DNA‐Based Dual‐Mode Data Storage System with Interrelated Concise and Detailed Data

open access: yesSmall Science, Volume 4, Issue 11, November 2024.
This study proposes a dual‐mode data storage system, which combines nanodot‐based frequently accessed data (concise data) and DNA‐based archival data (detailed data). Concise data writing/reading is achieved through scanning probe lithography (SPL)/microscopy, and detailed data writing/reading is achieved through DNA immobilization and in situ ...

Hybrid Dynamic Galois Field with Quantum Resilience for Secure IoT Data Management and Transmission in Smart Cities Using Reed–Solomon (RS) Code

open access: yesSymmetry
The Internet of Things (IoT), which is characteristic of the current industrial revolutions, is the connection of physical devices through different protocols and sensors to share information. Even though the IoT provides revolutionary opportunities, its connection to the current Internet for smart cities brings new opportunities for security threats ...

AONT-LT: a Data Protection Scheme for Cloud and Cooperative Storage Systems

open access: yes, 2014
We propose a variant of the well-known AONT-RS scheme for dispersed storage systems. The novelty consists in replacing the Reed-Solomon code with rateless Luby transform codes.

A path splitting and pruning strategy on list decoder for PAC codes

open access: yesIET Communications, Volume 18, Issue 18, Page 1292-1299, November 2024.
The paper introduces a novel low‐complexity list decoding algorithm for polarization‐adjusted convolutional codes. By incorporating path splitting and pruning strategies based on highly reliable information bits, our algorithm significantly reduces decoding complexity while maintaining optimal performance.

Research on fractional repetition codes based on group divisible designs

open access: yesTongxin xuebao, 2015
A novel design of FR (fractional repetition) codes was proposed which aims at providing efficient repair at the minimum bandwidth regenerating point. The design consisted of an outer MDS (maximum distance separable) code and an inner repetition code ...

Fast decoding of a d(min) = 6 RS code [PDF]

open access: yes
A method for high speed decoding a d sub min = 6 Reed-Solomon (RS) code is presented. Properties of the two byte error correcting and three byte error detecting RS code are discussed. Decoding using a quadratic equation is shown. Theorems and concomitant

An extended d(min) = 4 RS code [PDF]

open access: yes
A minimum distance d sub m - 4 extended Reed - Solomon (RS) code over GF (2 to the b power) was constructed. This code is used to correct any single byte error and simultaneously detect any double byte error. Features of the code; including fast encoding

Improving Data Communication of Enhanced Loran Systems Using 128-ary Polar Codes

open access: yesSensors
The enhanced Loran (eLoran) system, a critical terrestrial backup for the Global Satellite Navigation System (GNSS), traditionally utilizes a Reed-Solomon (RS) code for its data communication, which presents limitations in error performance, particularly

The Reed-Solomon encoders: Conventional versus Berlekamp's architecture [PDF]

open access: yes
Concatenated coding was adopted for interplanetary space missions. Concatenated coding was employed with a convolutional inner code and a Reed-Solomon (RS) outer code for spacecraft telemetry.

On the Performance of Trellis Coded Modulation in a Concatenated Reed-Bolomon System [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Concatenated systems combining the error correcting power of trellis codes and Reed-Solomon (RS) codes have been used to achieve error rates between 10-10 and 10-20 on satelite communications links [l].
