Benchmarking the benchmarks: A mixture-of-experts model of heterogeneous reference points in laptop choice

open access: yesComputers in Human Behavior Reports
Consumers rarely evaluate multi-attribute products on absolute levels alone; instead, they judge each option relative to salient reference points — either external benchmarks (e.g., the best, worst, or average option available) or internal anchors based ...

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Beyond Conventional Transcriptional Regulation Function: FOXP3 as an Integrative Hub for Chromatin Interactions and Protein Complexes in Immune Regulation

open access: yesBiology
As the lineage-defining transcription factor for regulatory T cells (Tregs), FOXP3 plays a critical role in maintaining immune homeostasis. However, FOXP3 has not been found to regulate the expression of immune suppressive cytokines so far, and the ...

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Use of a Deep Recurrent Neural Network to Reduce Wind Noise: Effects on Judged Speech Intelligibility and Sound Quality

open access: yesTrends in Hearing, 2018
Despite great advances in hearing-aid technology, users still experience problems with noise in windy environments. The potential benefits of using a deep recurrent neural network (RNN) for reducing wind noise were assessed.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Considering evacuees’ route preferences in emergency evacuation: a route choice model based on mental accounting theory

open access: yesTransportation Research Interdisciplinary Perspectives
The increasing number of natural disasters has heightened the need for evacuation. During evacuation, route choices of evacuates are affected by the road condition and evacuees’ reference-dependent evaluations.

A study of the user's perception of economic value in nursing visits to primary care by the method of contingent valuation

open access: yesBMC Family Practice, 2011
Background The identification of the attribution of economic value that users of a health system assign to a health service could be useful in planning these services. The method of contingent valuation can provide information about the user's perception

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Assessment of visual quality and social perception of cultural landscapes: application to Anyi traditional villages, China

open access: yesHeritage Science
The assessment of landscape visual quality (LVQ) holds significant importance in the preservation and advancement of traditional villages. One challenge in measuring human perception lies in establishing a connection between public preferences and ...
