Bayesian analysis of two-piece location–scale models under reference priors with partial information

open access: yesComputational Statistics and Data Analysis, 2016
Bayesian estimators are developed and compared with the maximum likelihood estimators for the two-piece location-scale models, which contain several well-known distributions such as the asymmetric Laplace distribution, the two-piece normal distribution ...

Prior references to laparoscopic brushing

Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, 1978
channel of the panendoscope or the coloscope. A potential difficulty is that of the snare having a tendency to flip or rotate rapidly if the coloscope is in a configuration of one or more tight loops. This is unusual because, even with a tight loop, the snare can be rotated 25 0 to 45 0 in most situations without flipping.

On the Development of Reference Priors*

1992
Abstract The paper begins with a general, though idiosyncratic, discussion of noninformative priors. This provides the background for motivating the recent and ongoing elaborations of the reference prior method for developing noninformative priors, a method initiated in Bernardo (1979).

Elimination of Nuisance Parameters with Reference Priors

Biometrika, 1993
Summary: The problem of eliminating nuisance parameters is tackled from different points of view. Standard likelihood techniques, such as profile likelihood and its modifications, are compared with a Bayesian analysis based on reference priors. Examples are considered to illustrate what happens in multiparameter problems.

A-g Reference Informative Prior: A Note on Zellner's g Prior

The Statistician, 1988
We consider a normal regression model and propose a natural conjugate reference informa- tive prior for the parameters, which takes into account different degrees of certainty about the different independent variables. In many applied problems, it is very important to assess a prior density function for the parameters of the model which is as ...

Implications of Reference Priors for Prior Information and for Sample Size

Journal of the American Statistical Association, 1996
Abstract Here we use posterior densities based on relative entropy reference priors for two purposes. The first purpose is to identify data implicit in the use of informative priors. We represent an informative prior as the posterior from an experiment with a known likelihood and a reference prior.

Selection of Spatial Reference Directions Prior to Seeing Objects

Spatial Cognition & Computation, 2012
Three experiments examined the temporal characteristics in selection of a spatial reference direction. Participants learned a layout of objects presented sequentially in a random order. An array of disks with a symmetric axis different from participants' learning viewpoint was presented before, during, or after learning objects' locations.
