Modulation of Tau Protein Neurotoxic Hallmarks by Novel σ1R Agonists/HDAC Inhibitor Dual‐Acting Compounds

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 21, Issue 5, 13 March 2026.
This study explores the development of dual‐acting compounds combining σ1R agonists and histone deacetylase inhibitors (HDACi). Key findings include compound 2d and 3a's high affinity for σ1R and favorable pharmacokinetic profile and an in vivo determined σ1R agonist profile by reversing the effect of the σ1R antagonist BD‐1063.

Human cytochrome b5 reductase: structure, function, and potential applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Cytochrome b5 reductase is a flavoprotein that is produced as two different isoforms that have different localizations. The amphipathic microsomal isoform, found in all cell types with the exception of erythrocytes, consists of one hydrophobic membrane-

Citrulline and intestinal fatty acid-binding protein as biomarkers for gastrointestinal dysfunction in the critically ill [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Currently there is no reliable tool available to monitor gastrointestinal function in the critically ill. Biomarkers are therefore of great interest in this field as the lack of monitoring tools impedes any interventional studies.

Radical Retrosynthesis of Natural Products Enabled by Iron‐Based Reductive Olefin Coupling

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie Novit, Volume 2, Issue 1, March 2026.
This review highlights iron‐catalyzed reductive olefin coupling (ROC)—a strategy for C─C bond formation driven by metal‐hydride hydrogen atom transfer (MHAT)—as a key tool in natural products synthesis. This review surveys dozens of total syntheses employing ROC‐based strategies, highlighting its power to forge strained rings, quaternary centers, and ...

Prescription Trends and Clinical Decision‐Making in Neuropathic Pain Pharmacological Treatment: Results From a Cross‐Sectional Survey by the Spanish Pain Society

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pain, Volume 30, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Neuropathic pain (NP) is a complex chronic condition with limited therapeutic effectiveness. Despite multiple drug classes and international guidelines, real‐world adherence remains inconsistent, and data on prescribing practices among pain specialists is scarce. Methods We conducted a nationwide cross‐sectional survey among members

Local scale assessment of climate change and its impacts in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The global climate is warming and there is consensus that recent warming trends will amplify, as the present century progresses, in response to a continued build up of atmospheric greenhouse gas (GHG) concentrations.
