Microstructural and Mechanical Properties of a Hard Anodic Coating Applied on an Elastically Prestrained Aluminum Substrate

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Prestraining the substrate influences coating formation process. Higher prestraining force leads to higher coating thickness and lower hardness. Increase in prestraining force enhances preliminary damage in hard anodic coating. Fatigue damage mechanisms change for hard anodized prestrained samples.

Barter in Russia: Liquidity Shortage versus Lack of Restructuring [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The rapid growth of barter is one of the most surprising phenomena in Russia: As a percentage of industrial sales it steadily increased from 5% in 1992 to nearly 55% in 1998.

Powder Metallurgy Preparation of Metastable β Ti–Cr–Ge Alloys for Medical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study develops metastable β Ti–Cr–Ge alloys using powder metallurgy for biomedical implants. The Ti–10Cr–2Ge alloy exhibits superior mechanical performance with high yield strength (>1100 MPa), low Young's modulus (<85 GPa), and excellent strain hardening behavior.

Sol–Gel Synthesis of Ca2.5Ag0.3Sm0.2Co4O9 Semiconducting Materials for Thermoelectric Applications in Aerospace Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ca2.5Ag0.3Sm0.2Co4O9 semiconductor materials are synthesized and produced in this study using the sol–gel and cold pressing techniques for thermoelectric generator applications. As template samples are added, the Seebeck coefficient and power factor values rise, peaking at 800 °C for Ca2.5Ag0.3Sm0.2Co4O9 at 274.47 μV K−1 and 0.58 mW mK−2, respectively.

Al–Ti–B grain refiners via powder metallurgy processing of Al/K2TiF6/KBF4 powder blends

open access: yesJournal of Alloys and Compounds, 2009
Abstract The response to thermal exposure of ball-milled Al/K 2 TiF 6 /KBF 4 powder blends was investigated to explore the potential of PM processing for the manufacture of Al–Ti–B alloys. K 2 TiF 6 starts to be reduced by aluminium as early as 220 °C when ball-milled Al/K 2 TiF 6 /KBF 4 powder blends are heated.

Study of longitudinal vibrations of stab knife refiners [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The subject of research is the longitudinal vibrations of stab knife refiners. A model of the fibrous layer between the rotor and stator is developed. It is shown that it is advisable to use the Maxwell-Thomson model for liquid friction of the rotor and ...

Mitigation of Cracks in High‐Performance Nickel‐Based Superalloys in Powder Bed Fusion Laser Beam of Metals Using a Metal Matrix Composite Approach

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐performance nickel‐based superalloys are often not processible in additive manufacturing (AM) due to hot cracking. The findings in this manuscript propose an efficient method to mitigate cracking and enhance mechanical properties of these alloys by producing a metal matrix composite, contributing to the material and process perspective of the AM ...
