AbstractCarbon-rich sources, such as coal and carbon monoxide gas, have been extensively used in the metal industry as the reducing agent of metal oxides and as the energy source for metal production. Consequently, the extractive metal sector contributes to approximately 9.5% of global greenhouse gas emissions.

Microstructure and mechanical properties of an Mg-3Zn- o.5Zr-5HA nanocomposite processed by ECAE [PDF]
Mg matrix composites reinforced by natural bone constituent hydroxyapatite (HA) particles have shown promising in-vitro corrosion resistance but are inconsistent in both electrochemical and mechanical performances because of severe particle segregations.

This study investigates the tribological response of 60NiTi alloy under dry, water‐lubricated and high‐temperature conditions. The alloy exhibits decreasing wear volume and friction with increasing temperature due to the formation of protective oxide layers. The work clarifies dominant wear mechanisms and demonstrates the suitability of 60NiTi for high‐

The influence of Widmanstätten ferrite, martensite and grain boundary carbides on the strength and impact behaviour of high Al (0.2%) and Nb containing hot rolled steels [PDF]
The influence of Al and Nb on the strength and impact behaviour of hot rolled 0.06%C, 1.4%Mn steels has been determined after hot rolling to 15 and 30 mm thick plate.

High‐frequency (HF) welding of steel is limited by oxide inclusions that degrade weld quality. This study demonstrates, for the first time, the integration of a nonthermal Ar/H2 dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma jet into HF welding. Local plasma treatment provides effective shielding and in‐situ oxide reduction, resulting in markedly fewer and ...

The mechanical behaviour of an ultrafine grained Ti-47Al-2Cr (at%) alloy in tension and compression and at different temperatures [PDF]
A bulk ultrafine grained (UFG) Ti-47Al-2Cr (at%) alloy has been produced using a powder metallurgy process that combines high energy mechanical milling (HEMM) of a mixture of Ti, Al and Cr powders to produce a Ti/Al/Cr composite powder and hot isostatic ...

Handbook of Establishing and Maintaining Oxygen‐Free Atmospheres
This study presents a practical framework for creating oxygen‐free atmospheres at ambient pressure using silane‐doped inert gases. The results show that ultra‐low oxygen levels and strongly reduced water content can be achieved through controlled silane dosing, drying systems, and sensor monitoring.

Al-Ti-B Grain Refiners Via Powder Metallurgy Processing Of Al/K2Tif6/Kbf4 Powder Blends
The response to thermal exposure of ball-milled Al/K2TiF6/KBF4 powder blends was investigated to explore the potential of PM processing for the manufacture of Al-Ti-B alloys. K2TiF6 starts to be reduced by aluminium as early as 220 degrees C when ball-milled Al/K2TiF6/KBF4 powder blends are heated. The reaction of KBF4 with aluminium follows soon after.
