Reflectance Confocal Microscopy for Inflammatory Skin Diseases

open access: yesActas Dermo-Sifiliográficas (English Edition), 2016
In vivo reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) is a relatively novel non-invasive tool for microscopic evaluation of the skin used prevalently for diagnosis and management of skin tumour. Its axial resolution, its non-invasive and easy clinical application represents the goals for a large diffusion of this technique.

Dermatoscopy and reflectance confocal microscopy aspects of a "nested melanoma of the elderly"

open access: yes, 2014
BACKGROUND: We report a case of a nested melanoma of the elderly, a recently described entity, and we describe its aspect under confocal reflectance microscopy.

A Retrospective Study of the Diagnostic Accuracy of In Vivo Reflectance Confocal Microscopy for Basal Cell Carcinoma Diagnosis and Subtyping

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Medicine, 2019
Current national and European guidelines recommend distinct management approaches for basal cell carcinoma (BCC) based on tumor location, size, and histopathological subtype.

Case Report: melanoma and melanocytic nevus differentiation with reflectance confocal microscopy. [v1; ref status: indexed, http://f1000r.es/5mr]

open access: yesF1000Research, 2015
Historically, melanoma has been typically diagnosed by naked-eye examination and confirmed with invasive biopsy. However, recently the use of reflectance confocal microscopy enables non-invasive bedside diagnosis of clinically equivocal lesions.

Exploring an Alternative to mRNA Vaccine Cold Chain Storage: MRNA‐Lipid Nanoparticle Stability When Dried in a Polymer Matrix

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The nanostructure, size, and function of mRNA‐loaded lipid nanoparticles are evaluated before drying, within polymer microneedles, and after rehydration. The results reveal the polymer and LNP loadings required to recover nanostructure and preserve the delivery performance in dry‐state formulations.

Diagnostic pitfall: pigmented lesion of the nipple--correlation between dermoscopy, reflectance confocal microscopy and histopathology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We present an unusual case of a nevus of the nipple changing during pregnancy which caused a diagnostic pitfall. Nevi on the nipple and areola are infrequent, and diagnostic criteria for clinical, dermoscopy or reflectance confocal microscopy examination

Presurgical evaluation of basal cell carcinoma using combined reflectance confocal microscopy-optical coherence tomography: A prospective study.

open access: yesJournal of American Academy of Dermatology, 2019
Background: Initial biopsy of basal cell carcinoma (BCC) may fail to show aggressive histologic subtypes. Additionality, the clinical evaluation of BCC prior to surgery can miss subclinical extension.

Titanium Suboxides Responsible for Electronic Anomaly Near Room Temperature in the Ti3C2Tx MXene

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Our multi‐technique study reveals that the near‐room‐temperature anomaly in Ti3C2Tx MXene is linked to titanium suboxide nanodomains, including Ti3O5, embedded within the MXene host. Their temperature‐driven transformation provides an alternative explanation to solvent‐ and swelling‐based models and offers new insight into the thermally activated ...

Mechanoluminescent HOF Nanotransducers Enabled Sono‐Optogenetics in Parkinsonian Rats

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a mechanoluminescent system utilizing porous hydrogen‐bonded organic frameworks (HOFs) as a toolkit for focused ultrasound‐triggered, non‐invasive light delivery to the deep brain in rats. This approach enables the specific activation of PV‐GPe neurons in dopamine‐depleted Parkinson's disease rat models, resulting in a comparable alleviation
