Infrared Patch Reflectarray

2006 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium, 2006
A simple sub-millimeter infrared reflectarray (SMIR) has been successfully fabricated and tested at 10.6 mum. The SMIR is comprised of three independent arrays or "stripes" of a single size element on a coated optical flat. Actual reflectarray elements consist of variable size patches which exhibit higher operating bandwidths than reflectarrays ...

Cost-Effective Design of a Reflectarray Antenna for 5G and Millimeter-Wave Applications Utilizing 3-D-Printed Components

IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters
A novel low-cost 3-D-printed reflectarray is proposed based on a spatial phase-shifting technique. It consists of a layer of patches and a 3-D-printed underlayer covered by copper tape that acts as a ground plane.

1 Bit Electronically Reconfigurable Folded Reflectarray Antenna Based on p-i-n Diodes for Wide-Angle Beam-Scanning Applications

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 2020
In this communication, an electronically reconfigurable folded reflectarray antenna (ERFRA), which includes $14 \times 14$ reflecting elements and features a fully planar compact configuration and wide-angle beam-scanning performance, was developed ...

Reflectarrays: Potentials and Challenges

2007 International Conference on Electromagnetics in Advanced Applications, 2007
The paper gives an overview of research activities on reflectarrays. It revisits the original concept of reflectarray and describes how its realization evolved over the last three decades. Fixed-beam and electronically steered varieties of this antenna are considered.

Switched beam reflectarrays

2005 18th International Conference on Applied Electromagnetics and Communications, 2005
A study about switched beam reflectarrays has been carried out as a task on the Spanish project ARCO, to know the possibilities of this kind of antenna. The study has demonstrated that is possible to have a control of the radiation pattern by using switches on the reflector surface, and were studied different configurations in order to simplify ...

Investigation into Bandwidth Limitations of Microstrip Reflectarrays

2008 3rd International Conference on Information and Communication Technologies: From Theory to Applications, 2008
The paper describes theoretical investigations into the bandwidth limitations of a microstrip reflectarray which uses variable size antenna elements for its phasing. Three main factors limiting the bandwidth are considered. The first one is related to the phase compensation that is required to convert a spherical wavefront launched by the feed into a ...

Planar infrared binary phase reflectarray

Optics Letters, 2008
A reflective, binary phase reflectarray is demonstrated in the infrared, at a wavelength of 10.6 microm. The unique aspect of this work, at this frequency band, is that the specific desired phase shift is achieved using an array of subwavelength metallic patches on top of a ground-plane-backed dielectric stand-off layer.

Wideband conformal reflectarrays: Preliminary analysis

2014 International Conference on Electromagnetics in Advanced Applications (ICEAA), 2014
In this paper, some preliminary results on conformal reflectarray antennas are presented. In particular, the effects introduced by the curvature on the phase of the re-radiated field variation vs. the reflectarray unit cell geometrical parameters have been considered.

Printed Reflectarray Antennas

2007
This article has covered the principles of operation and design guidelines of microstrip reflectarrays, which have been intensively researched over the last two decades at various parts of the world. The reflectarrays that have been described here are able to produce single- and multibeam operation with linear, dual-linear, or circular polarization ...

A Wideband 1 bit 12 × 12 Reconfigurable Beam-Scanning Reflectarray: Design, Fabrication, and Measurement

IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters, 2019
In this letter, a wideband 1 bit 12 × 12 reconfigurable beam-scanning reflectarray is designed, fabricated, and measured. The 1 bit reconfigurable element is realized by soldering PIN diode into a slotted metallic square patch.
