Analysis and numerical simulation on parameter optimization of low hardness coal pre-splitting blasting

open access: yesGong-kuang zidonghua, 2017
In view of the characteristics of low coal hardness and permeability of a certain area, in order to confirm suitable cartridge radius and non-coupling charging coefficient, and improve coal blasting efficiency in the area, software of ANSYS/LS_DYNA was ...

Mechanically Mutable Matrices: A Hierarchical Investigation of Decellularized Sea Cucumber Collagen as an Adaptable Scaffold Material

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Sea cucumber mutable collagenous tissue (MCT) is a remarkable collagen‐based material which can rapidly undergo large changes in stiffness through transiently bound effector proteins. Here, we investigate the hierarchical structure and mechanical response of MCT from Cucumaria frondosa across length scales with a wide range of methods, also exploring ...

High‐Performance n‐Type Organic Thermoelectrics Enabled by Control Over Microstructure, Orientation and Contact Plane in Naphthalenediimide‐Bithiazole‐Copolymer Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Effective control over the crystalline contact plane and microstructure of a naphthalenediimide‐bithiazole copolymer enables high‐performance n‐type thermoelectrics. While rubbing alignment induces a detrimental edge‐on orientation, subsequent solvent vapor‐induced re‐orientation facilitates a favorable mixed face‐on/edge‐on morphology.

Functionalizing Micro‐to‐Mesoscopic Electrode Architectures for Regulating Electron Transfer Behaviors in Electrocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A systematic review is conducted to assess the influence of electrode architecture across micro‐ to mesoscopic length scales on electron‐transfer pathways in electrocatalysis. We discuss the structure‐activity relationships in electrocatalytic applications, including resource recovery and environmental remediation, and provide cost‐effective, efficient

Clustering approach for crack detection in GPR data: Influence of infilling material on detectability

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials
Ground-Penetrating Radar (GPR) is a non-destructive method widely used for detecting cracks and other subsurface defects in concrete pavements. The effectiveness of GPR in detecting cracks can be significantly influenced by the infilling material present

The reflective cracking in thin surfacings

open access: yes, 1998
This paper shows a laboratory study on reflection cracking in thin surfacings, where the reflective cracking take an important point in pavement life, undertaken with the Reflective Cracking Device and the Crack Activity Meter. The Crack Activity Meter was used to measure load associated differential vertical and horizontal movement between the two ...

Nanodiamond Sensing in Dynamic Environments With Fast‐Tracking Through Four‐Point Positioning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A four‐point positioning tracking (4PPT) platform enables fast 3D feedback translational tracking of fluorescent nanodiamonds while simultaneously recording ODMR spectra. By integrating real‐time translational tracking with quantum sensing, mobile nanodiamonds are used for in‐situ nanothermometry, nanorheometry, and 6D translation–rotation tracking in ...

Mitigating Concentration Polarization in Dry‐Processed Ultra‐Thick Cathodes Using a Low‐Viscosity Electrolyte With Soft Li+ Solvation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A low‐viscosity, soft‐solvating methyl ethanoate (ME)‐based electrolyte facilitates electrolyte infiltration into dense dry‐processed ultra‐thick NCM622 cathodes while reducing Li+ desolvation barriers at Li‐metal anodes. Balanced cathode‐scale ion transport and anode‐side interfacial kinetics mitigate concentration polarization and interfacial ...

Unusual Temperature‐Enhanced Bulk Photovoltaic Effect Beyond the Centrosymmetric Phase in CuCrP2S6 van der Waals Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Contrary to conventional expectations, the bulk photovoltaic effect in CuCrP2S6 is enhanced rather than suppressed upon transitioning into the crystallographically centrosymmetric phase. Dynamic Cu‐ion disorder creates transient polar states, which substantially amplifies zero‐bias photocurrent (shift‐current) generation, establishing dynamic symmetry ...
