Non‐destructive evaluation of in‐place rehabilitated concrete pavements

open access: yesJournal of Civil Engineering and Management, 2010
Several in‐place rehabilitation techniques have been used before placing an Asphalt Concrete (AC) overlay on Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) pavements in attempts to minimize reflection cracking.

Crack-free ScxAl1−xN(0001̄) layers grown on Si(111) by plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy

open access: yesAPL Materials
We investigate the synthesis of 340-nm-thick ScxAl1−xN layers with 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.35 on AlN-buffered Si(111) by plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy. We employ an AlN nucleation layer under conditions giving rise to single-domain N-polar [(0001̄)-oriented ...

Speckle‐Engineered Upconversion Amplification in Nanoemulsion‐Templated Hydrogel Microdomes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Nanoemulsion‐confined PEGDA microdomes generate speckle‐like excitation fields that strongly amplify upconversion luminescence upon dehydration, enabling filter‐free visible readout with reversible on–off switching. DMD‐based lithography yields scalable, shape‐programmable arrays for moisture‐responsive displays and optical encryption.

The Dust Tail of Asteroid (3200) Phaethon

open access: yes, 2013
We report the discovery of a comet-like tail on asteroid (3200) Phaethon when imaged at optical wavelengths near perihelion. In both 2009 and 2012, the tail appears >=350" (2.5x10^8 m) in length and extends approximately in the projected anti-solar ...

The Terminal Domains of Collagen‐Like Silk Direct Molecular Interactions and Liquid–Liquid Phase Separation‐Mediated Material Assembly

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Terminal domains of recombinant collagen‐like silk regulate hierarchical self‐assembly across molecular and material scales. We show that terminal domains of collagen‐like silk enhance triple‐helix stability and drive liquid–liquid phase separation, enabling reversible formation of fibers and self‐healing films.

Atomic Layer Deposition in Transistors and Monolithic 3D Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Transistors are fundamental building blocks of modern electronics. This review summarizes recent progress in atomic layer deposition (ALD) for the synthesis of two‐dimensional (2D) metal oxides and transition‐metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs), with particular emphasis on their enabling role in monolithic three‐dimensional (M3D) integration for next ...

Critical Role of Polymer Gate Dielectrics on the Charge Carrier Transport in Perovskite Field‐Effect Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Charge transport in 2D tin perovskite FETs is shown to be governed by dielectric interface behavior. Polar polymer dielectrics induce dipolar disorder that localizes carriers, whereas nonpolar polymers suppress trapping and enable superior charge transport, ensuring stable and reliable transistor operation. ABSTRACT Understanding the role of interfaces
