An adaptive space-time phase field formulation for dynamic fracture of brittle shells based on LR NURBS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
We present an adaptive space-time phase field formulation for dynamic fracture of brittle shells. Their deformation is characterized by the Kirchhoff–Love thin shell theory using a curvilinear surface description.

Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy due to Biallelic Pathogenic Variants in PIGM

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective PIGM encodes a critical enzyme in the glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)‐anchor biosynthesis pathway. While promoter‐region mutations in PIGM have been associated with a relatively mild phenotype characterized by portal vein thrombosis and absence seizures, recent evidence suggests that coding‐region mutations result in a more severe

Experimental Investigation and Mechanism Analysis on Rock Damage by High Voltage Spark Discharge in Water: Effect of Electrical Conductivity

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
High voltage spark discharge (HVSD) could generate strong pressure waves that can be combined with a rotary drill bit to improve the penetration rate in unconventional oil and gas drilling.

Specular Reflection by Contacting Crack Faces

open access: yes, 1984
Non-linear relations are postulated between the transmitted tractions and the crack opening displacements across contacting rough crack faces. For the opening mode these relations take into account that a crack easily opens, but that the resistance to crack closure increases rapidly as the rough crack faces come in contact.

Clinical Practice Guideline for Evaluation and Management of Peripheral Nervous System Manifestations in Sjögren's Disease

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Sjögren's disease is an autoimmune disorder that can impact multiple organ systems, including the peripheral nervous system (PNS). PNS manifestations, which can exist concurrently, include mononeuropathies, polyneuropathies, and autonomic nervous system neuropathies.

Research status of rock sliding specular reflection and its application in shale gas preservation

open access: yes地质科技通报, 2023
Objective Specular reflection is a smooth surface formed during the sliding process of rock strata, with a certain metallic and glass luster and reflective properties.

Application of NDT thermographic imaging of aerospace structures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
This work aims to address the effectiveness and challenges of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspection and improve the detection of defects without causing damage to the material or operator.

Performance of Asphalt Rubber Mixture Overlays to Mitigate Reflective Cracking

open access: yesMaterials, 2022
Adequately predicting overlay behaviour is essential for flexible pavement rehabilitation to reach the predicted lifespan. Reflective cracking is one of the main failure mechanisms affecting overlay performance. This failure may occur due to cracks in the lower layers that propagate to the overlay due to traffic loads, temperature variations, shrinkage

Dynamic characteristics and anti-burst mechanism of pre-drilled coal under high strain rate

open access: yesMeitan xuebao
Pressure relief through coal seam drilling is a common method in coal mine rockburst prevention, with its effectiveness linked to the mechanical properties of coal.

Nonlinear shear wave interaction at a frictional interface: Energy dissipation and generation of harmonics

open access: yes, 2011
Analytical and numerical modelling of the nonlinear interaction of shear wave with a frictional interface is presented. The system studied is composed of two homogeneous and isotropic elastic solids, brought into frictional contact by remote normal ...
