Improvement of barrier properties of a hybrid sol-gel coating by incorporation of synthetic talc-like phyllosilicates for corrosion protection of a carbon steel [PDF]
Sol–gel coatings for corrosion protection of metals are a good alternative to toxic chromate treatments. The present work focussed on the incorporation of inorganic fillers in a sol–gel coating to improve the barrier properties of the film.

Collagen hydrolysate is evaluated as a sustainable binder for MgO‐C refractories. Its thermally induced cross‐linking and gas release lead to expansion and cracking in large bricks, but tailored batches with lignin, recyclates, or fine graphite improve the gas release while thermal treatment and stability.

Creating Ti–Fe α/β Alloys by Diffusion‐Driven Solid‐State Processing
This study proposes making alloys containing fast diffusing elements that are difficult to produce by ingot metallurgy, by diffusion‐driven solid‐state HIP processing of elemental powders and low‐temperature homogenisation. Here, novel Fe‐Ti α–β alloys are formed having fine α–β lamellae, a small β prior grain size without significant intermetallics ...

Presenting a Statistical Model of Fatigue Prediction for the Effect of Loading Frequency on Reflective Cracks Propagation on Asphalt Layers Improved by Geosynthetics [PDF]
So far, several methods have been proposed for delaying the reflective cracks in pavements. Despite substantial money spent annually on these types of maintenance methods to control reflection cracking in road pavement, none of them has successfully ...

Numerical Modeling of Tank Cars Carrying Hazardous Materials With and Without Composite Metal Foam
Large‐scale puncture models consisting of hazardous materials (HAZMATs) tank car with protective steel–steel composite metal foam (S–S CMF) are solved numerically. Tank car plate with added 10.91–13.33 mm thick S–S CMF layer does not puncture. Protective S–S CMF absorbs impact energy, reduces plate deformation, and prevents shear bands formation ...
