Acoustic reflex abnormalities in cranial‐cervical dystonia
Neurology, 1992Previous anatomic and physiologic studies suggest brainstem dysfunction in cranial-cervical dystonia. To further explore this, we studied suprathreshold acoustic reflex waveforms in 15 such patients. A unique feature of this technique is its ability to reject movement artifacts before averaging the acoustic reflex waveforms.

Abnormal cough reflex in canine acrylamide neuropathy
Annals of Neurology, 1989AbstractCoughing in response to irritation of the airways is a fundamental protective reflex that is dependent on rapidly adapting bronchopulmonary receptors and their vagal afferent fibers; reflex airway constriction, which is effected by vagomotor efferent fibers, usually accompanies coughing.

THE REHABILITATION ROLE OF ABNORMAL REFLEXES
CASPIANJOURNALOF MEDICINE AND PHARMACYIn most post-stroke patients, an increase in muscle tone on the hemiplegic side is accompanied by a revival of tendon reflexes and an expansion of their reflexogenic zone, as well as the appearance of specific abnormal reflexes. All these signs have long been considered when diagnosing damage to the pyramidal system in diseases of the spinal cord and ...

Abnormal middle ear muscle reflexes and audiosensitivity
British Journal of Audiology, 1986Reversed or hyperactive stapedial reflexes are found in a wide variety of patients complaining of audiosensitivity, defined as a need to turn down the volume on audio equipment. This was checked in an independent sample of children with learning problems.

Abnormalities of the Exercise Pressor Reflex in Heart Failure
Exercise and Sport Sciences Reviews, 2011Abnormal cardiovascular responses to exercise in heart failure contribute significantly to the morbidity and mortality in the patient population. These abnormal responses may be the result of peripheral impairment in the skeletal muscle and the neurons that innervate the muscle.

Vestibulo‐Ocular Reflex Abnormalities in Patients With Migraine
Headache: The Journal of Head and Face Pain, 2005Objective.—To investigate the high‐frequency vestibulo‐ocular reflex (VOR) in patients with migraine, with and without dizziness and aura. Background.—Migraine is a common cause of dizziness. Although many vestibular testing abnormalities have been documented in migraine patients, high‐frequency VOR abnormalities have not been ...

Demonstration of Normal and Abnormal Pupillary Reflexes
American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1925The method of teaching students here described brings out sharply the significance of certain alterations of the pupillary reflexes important in diagnosis. They are here considered with reference to the afferent pathway, the efferent pathway and sympathetic innervation of the iris.
