Tremor in Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy
Archives of Neurology, 1991Postural hand tremor was quantitatively investigated on both sides in 21 patients suffering from unilateral reflex sympathetic dystrophy of the upper extremity. On the affected side, enhanced tremor amplitude, with a mean tremor frequency of 7.2 Hz, was found in 57% of the patients.

Clinical Neuropharmacology, 1993Treatment of reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD) is primarily surgical. Typically, regional sympathetic blockade or sympathectomy is employed. Alternatives to neurosurgery, such as pharmacotherapy, include systemic corticosteroids and antidepressants. However, side effects and nonresponders to these approaches are not uncommon.

Reflex sympathetic dystrophy in childhood
The Indian Journal of Pediatrics, 2002Reflex sympathetic dystrophy is characterized by constant burning pain and hyperesthesia in an extremity. Lower extremities are usually affected. Pain is accompanied by swelling, sweating, vasomotor instability and sometimes trophic changes. There may be a history of minor injury or not. Muscle spasms, myoclonus or focal dystonia may occur.

Pediatric Emergency Care, 1998Reflex sympathetic dystrophy is becoming increasingly recognized in the pediatric population, yet there is very little about the disease in standard pediatric texts and nothing in the emergency medicine literature. Failure to diagnose Reflex sympathetic dystrophy in a timely fashion greatly decreases the likelihood of recovery.

Neurologic Clinics, 1992Converging lines of research suggest that RSD is a form of reflex neurogenic inflammation. Early the sympathetic nervous system appears to have an initiating and sustaining role. In later states of the illness, structural changes at the DH level seem to correlate with centralization of the process.
