Effect of the Noble Metals Addition on the Oxidation Behavior of Ni3Al

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, Volume 2018, Issue 1, 2018., 2018
This paper discusses the effect of the addition of noble metals on the microstructure, mechanism, and oxidation kinetics of the Ni3Al intermetallic alloy. Ni3Al was doped with 1% (atomic percent) of Au, Ag, Pd, and Pt. Oxidation behavior of the alloys was evaluated at 900, 1000, and 1100°C in O2 for 24 hours.

Application of an Activated Carbon‐Based Support for Magnetic Solid Phase Extraction Followed by Spectrophotometric Determination of Tartrazine in Commercial Beverages

open access: yesInternational Journal of Analytical Chemistry, Volume 2015, Issue 1, 2015., 2015
A method is presented for magnetic solid phase extraction of tartrazine from nonalcoholic beverages. The method involves the extraction and clean‐up by activated carbon covered with magnetite dispersed in the sample, followed by the magnetic isolation and desorption of the analyte by basified methanol.

Evaluation of Natural Materials as Exogenous Carbon Sources for Biological Treatment of Low Carbon‐to‐Nitrogen Wastewater

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2015, Issue 1, 2015., 2015
In the bacterial processes involved in the mitigation of nitrogen pollution, an adequately high carbon‐to‐nitrogen (C : N) ratio is key to sustain denitrification. We evaluated three natural materials (woodchips, barley grains, and peanut shells) as carbon sources for low C : N wastewater.

Seasonal Changes of Fish Assemblages in a Subtropical Lagoon in the SE Gulf of California

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, Volume 2014, Issue 1, 2014., 2014
The composition and seasonal changes of the fish assemblage in a coastal lagoon system in southeastern Gulf of California were assessed from December 2001 to July 2005. A total of 20,877 organisms belonging to 191 species and 47 families were analyzed. We determined that almost all the species inhabiting the system were found; however some rare species

Main Characteristics of Mexico City Local Wind Events during the MILAGRO 2006 Campaign within a Meso‐β Scale Lattice Wind Modeling Approach

open access: yesInternational Scholarly Research Notices, Volume 2013, Issue 1, 2013., 2013
A characterization of local wind events in Mexico City, which occurred during MILAGRO campaign, was carried out within the framework of a lattice wind modeling approach at a meso‐β scale. Mexico City was modeled as a 2D lattice domain with a given number of identical cells. Local wind conditions at any cell were described by a state variable defined by

Fern spore dispersal: A methodological review and experimental field study

open access: yesApplications in Plant Sciences, Volume 14, Issue 1, January-February 2026.
Abstract Spore dispersal is one of the most important but perhaps the least investigated and understood processes in determining the geographical distribution of fern species. After a methodological review of the aerobiology of fern spores, we examined the impact of spore characteristics and meteorological factors on their airborne dispersal.
