Ocular refraction at low illuminations
Vision Research, 1966Abstract A survey of literature concerned with ocular refraction at reduced illuminations reveals that most eyes become myopic with approaching darkness. The three causes of this myopia are considered and evidence for a night near response presented.

Hormonal influences on ocular refraction in the rat
Nature, 1978WE report here that thyrotrophin (TSH) has a marked influence on ocular refraction in rats. In the clinical experience of one of us (C.C.K.-V.A.), adolescent myopia is not infrequently accompanied by increased height, suggesting a common, possibly hormonal, cause for both phenomena.

Refractive error and ocular motility in plagiocephaly
Child's Nervous System, 1994Plagiocephaly, which is caused by premature closure of one of the coronal sutures, leads to fronto-orbital asymmetry. The aim of this work was to study the repercussions of orbital deformation on the visual system. Twenty-one patients presenting with plagiocephaly at birth and operated on by the same craniofacial technique (bilateral approach with ...

Ocular Torticollis Caused by Refractive Error
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1982• A patient with bilaterally dislocated lenses assumed a head tilt for optimum vision through spectacles prescribed for her myopia. Phakic and aphakic refractions could be obtained in either eye with changes in head position. A unilateral aphakic contact lens provided useful vision and corrected the head tilt.

Ocular Integrity after Refractive Procedures
Ophthalmology, 1997The purpose of the study was to determine the integrity of human eyes after refractive procedures.Whole human globes underwent either radial keratotomy (RK) with eight incisions, automated lamellar keratoplasty (ALK), photorefractive keratectomy (PRK), or excimer laser assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK).

Ocular Refractive Characteristics in Cerebral Palsy
Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, 1961This study was undertaken because of the clinical impression that ocular refractive errors in cerebral palsied children were different from those of normal children and of children with neuromuscular handicaps other than cerebral palsy. A study of a limited number of patients warrants some preliminary observations.

Ocular Dimensions and Refraction in Tibetan Children
Optometry and Vision Science, 1995ABSTRACT A cross‐sectional study of 404 Tibetan children (212 males, 192 females) aged 6 to 16 years was conducted in the Bouda region of Kathmandu, Nepal in April, 1992. Examination procedures included retinoscopy (1% cyclopentolate HCI), keratometry A‐scan ultrasonography, and video ophthalmophakometry. The mean refractive error was

This is an exceptionally interesting and valuable book, written by one who has evidently had considerable experience in all the practical details of prescribing glasses, from the initial refraction done in the office to the grinding of the lenses and the fitting of frames.

"CHANGES IN OCULAR REFRACTION"
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1933To the Editor. — I observe that in Dr. Edward Jackson's paper on "Changes in Ocular Refraction," which appears in the last Bulletin of the American College of Surgeons , he does not mention my three papers on the rotation of the axis in astigmatism, though he refers quite fully to the subject. The first of my contributions was published in the British
