Residential San Francisco Bay area air conditioners leak less refrigerant than expected

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters
Building electrification, rising living standards, and increasing temperatures are all driving adoption of air conditioners and heat pumps. Many commonly used refrigerants, such as hydrofluorocarbons, are potent greenhouse gasses when they leak and ...

Bio‐Memristor Based on Clinical Bile Samples: A Proof‐of‐Concept Pilot Study for Detection of Gallbladder Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this work, we present a bile‐based memristor hardware framework that enables direct, label‐free identification of cholelithiasis and gallbladder cancer at the device level. The Ag/bile/FTO memristor features stable resistive switching and disease‐specific electrical responses, providing a conceptual foundation for circuits and an integrated ERCP ...

Heat‐ and Light‐Directed Cycloadditions Enable a Pericyclic Cascade Reaction From a Molecular Precursor

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A multi‐stimuli‐responsive material is designed that responds to light, heat, and mechanical force through distinct chemical reaction pathways. The pathway is directed by self‐assembly and the applied stimulus. A novel pericyclic reaction cascade is also achieved, and the mechanism is supported through density functional theory calculations.

Emergence of Unconventional Magnetic Order in Strain‐Engineered RuO2/TiO2 Superlattices

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Epitaxial strain activates unconventional magnetism in rutile RuO2, absent in bulk or relaxed RuO2. Polarized neutron reflectometry with atomic‐layer resolution directly reveals finite magnetization confined to RuO2 layers in fully strained RuO2/TiO2 superlattices on TiO2 (110).

Magnesium‐Retention Assisted Synthesis of High‐Performance Zintl Thermoelectrics

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Mg volatilization and chemical instability during high‐temperature synthesis hinder the scalable fabrication of Mg‐based thermoelectrics. Here, a magnesium‐retention assisted synthesis (MRAS) strategy stabilizes Mg using a sacrificial Mg reservoir and an inert‐gas‐regulated melting environment.

Acoustically Activatable Drug‐Loaded Nanodroplets for Mechanochemical Therapy in Solid Tumors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Microfluidically fabricated drug‐loaded nanodroplets are sequentially activated by dual‐frequency ultrasound through acoustic droplet vaporization followed by bubble collapse, enabling spatially controlled drug release and mechanical tumor fractionation, resulting in synergistic mechanochemotherapy and prolonged survival.

Boosting-based Refrigerant Charge Fault Diagnosis Integration Model of Variable Refrigerant Flow System

open access: yesZhileng xuebao, 2020
Variable refrigerant flow (VRF) air-conditioning systems are widely used in various public buildings. If a fault occurs, it will result in reducing comfort and increasing energy consumption.

SPICE‐Compatible Compact Modeling of Cuprate‐Based Memristors Across a Wide Temperature Range

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
A physics‐guided compact model for YBCO memristors is introduced, incorporating carrier trapping, field‐induced detrapping, and a differential balance equation to describe their switching dynamics. The model is compared with experiments and implemented in LTspice, allowing realistic circuit‐level simulations.

Array‐Level Characterization of Cryogenic RRAM

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
This paper reports the first array‐level comprehensive electrical characterization of a 1024‐device HfO2‐based RRAM array from 300, 77 to 4 K, covering forming, set/reset switching, endurance, retention, relaxation, and read disturb. The results manifest the high performance of RRAM array at cryogenic temperatures and huge application potential for ...
