Simulation study of brain blood flow regulation by intra-cortical arterioles in an anatomically accurate large human vascular network. Part II: Flow variations induced by global or localized modifications of arteriolar diameters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In a companion paper (Lorthois et al., Neuroimage, inpress),we perform the first simulations of blood flow in an anatomically accurate large human intra-cortical vascular network (~10000 segments), using a 1D non-linear model taking into account the ...

Assessment of vibration modulated regional cerebral blood flow with MRI

open access: yesNeuroImage, 2023
Human brain experiences vibration of certain magnitude and frequency during various physical activities such as vehicle transportation and machine operation, which may cause traumatic brain injury or other brain diseases. However, the mechanisms of brain

Asymmetric Inter‐Hemisphere Communication Contributes to Speech Acquisition of Toddlers with Cochlear Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The present study constructs machine‐learning models to resolve developmental relationships among auditory performance, auditory cortical processing, and functional connectivity of the bilateral language network during the first year of restored hearing. The results demonstrate that asymmetric inter‐hemisphere communication contributes significantly to

Measurement of regional sodium turnover rates and their application to the estimation of regional blood flow.

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Physiology, 1957
It has been possible to estimate the regional blood flow through quantitative analysis of the sodium wash out curve obtained by a method which involves the injection of sodium 24 into an artery and...

Lecithin Alleviates Memory Deficits and Muscle Attenuation in Chinese Older Adults and SAMP8 Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study opens a new avenue for safeguarding cognition and muscle health, averting disability in older age, and treating age‐related pathologies through lecithin supplementation. It serves as a promising nonpharmacological intervention for the crosstalk of muscle and cognition.

Systemic hemodynamic and regional circulatory effects of centrally administered endothelin-1 are mediated through ETA receptors [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Central endothelin (ET) has been implicated in the regulation of the cardiovascular system. The effect of intracerebroventricular (i.c.v.) administration of ET-1 or IRL 1620 (5, 15 and 45 ng) on the systemic hemodynamics and regional circulation was ...

Effect of Anodal Direct-Current Stimulation on Cortical Hemodynamic Responses With Laser-Speckle Contrast Imaging

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2018
Transcranial direct-current stimulation (DCS) offers a method for noninvasive neuromodulation usable in basic and clinical human neuroscience. Laser-speckle contrast imaging (LSCI), a powerful, low-cost method for obtaining images of dynamic systems, can

Targeting Decidual CD16+ Immune Cells with Exosome‐Based Glucocorticoid Nanoparticles for Miscarriage

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Exosome‐based nanoparticles (GC‐Exo‐CD16Ab) are designed to deliver glucocorticoids (GC) specifically to decidual CD16+ NK cells and macrophages. This targeted delivery effectively suppresses the cytotoxicity of decidual NK cells, inhibits M1 macrophage polarization, and modulates the decidual microenvironment.
