Regional cerebral blood flow and extraversion

open access: yesPersonality and Individual Differences, 1993
Summary-Regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) was examined in a group of 17 subjects (8 men, 9 women, ages 22-35 years) at rest and during three mental activations, inducing perceptual and spatial processing. The subjects completed two personality questionnaires, the Eysenck Personality Inventory and the Karolinska Scales of Personality (KSP). The aim of

Exploring patients’ profiles associated with the resolution of acute calcium pyrophosphate arthritis treatedwith colchicine and prednisone: post hoc analysis of a randomized controlled trial

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective The objective was to identify factors determining acute arthritis resolution and safety with colchicine and prednisone in acute calcium pyrophosphate (CPP) crystal arthritis. Methods We conducted a post hoc analysis of the COLCHICORT trial, which compared colchicine and prednisone for the treatment of acute CPP crystal arthritis, using a ...

The marginated pool [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The pulmonary circulation harbors a large intravascular reservoir of leukocytes refered to as the Marginated Pool. This marginated pool is balanced by propeling and retaining forces acting on leukocytes during their passage through the pulmonary ...

Regional cerebral blood flow in familial hypercholesterolemia. [PDF]

open access: yesStroke, 1994
Although epidemiologic investigations are trying to clarify the role of plasma lipid concentrations (primarily cholesterol and its subfractions) as risk factors for both ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, little information is available regarding the effect of sustained hypercholesterolemia on cerebral perfusion.

Forskolin Enhances Urokinase Plasminogen Activator Secretion and Angiogenic Activity of Xeno‐Free Cultures of Human Adipose Tissue‐Derived Stem Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
The regenerative potential of adipose tissue‐derived stem cells can be enhanced through chemical stimulation in vitro. A short stimulation protocol using forskolin, either alone or in combination with other growth factors, under xeno‐free conditions enhanced the pro‐angiogenic responses in human ASCs.

The functional neuroimaging correlates of psychogenic versus organic dystonia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The neurobiological basis of psychogenic movement disorders remains poorly understood and the management of these conditions difficult. Functional neuroimaging studies have provided some insight into the pathophysiology of disorders implicating ...

Neurobiological insight into hyperbaric hyperoxia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Aim: Hyperbaric hyperoxia (HBO) is known to modulate aerobic metabolism, vasoreactivity and blood flow in the brain. Nevertheless, mechanisms underlying its therapeutic effects, especially in traumatic brain injury (TBI) and stroke patients, are debated.

Regional blood flow and its relationship to lymphocyte and lymphoblast traffic during a primary immune reaction

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Medicine, 1979
The relationship of alterations in blood flow with changes in cell distribution has been studied in an inflammatory site and its draining lymph node during the induction of an immune reaction with oxazolone in mice.

3D (Bio) Printing Combined Fiber Fabrication Methods for Tissue Engineering Applications: Possibilities and Limitations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Biofabrication aims at providing innovative technologies and tools for the fabrication of tissue‐like constructs for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. By integrating multiple biofabrication technologies, such as 3D (bio) printing with fiber fabrication methods, it would be more realistic to reconstruct native tissue's ...
