Pre-Vascularized 3-Dimensional Skin Substitutes Promote Angiogenesis and Tissue Repair in a Murine Model of Refractory Skin Ulcers

open access: yesJournal of Functional Biomaterials
Restoring blood flow is crucial for treating refractory ulcers. Despite advancements in various biomaterials, none incorporating pre-formed blood vessels have been commercialized.

Theoretical investigation of measuring cerebral blood flow in the adult human head using bolus indocyanine green injection and near-infrared spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
To investigate the accuracy of measuring cerebral blood flow (CBF) using a bolus injection of indocyanine green (ICG) detected by near infrared spectroscopy in adult human heads, simulations were performed using a two layered model, representing the ...

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Dietary nitrate modulates cerebral blood flow parameters and cognitive performance in humans: A double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover investigation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Nitrate derived from vegetables is consumed as part of a normal diet and is reduced endogenously via nitrite to nitric oxide. It has been shown to improve endothelial function, reduce blood pressure and the oxygen cost of sub-maximal exercise, and ...

Longitudinal circulating tumor DNA profiling in patients with advanced endometrial cancer using an off‐the‐shelf targeted NGS panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumour heterogeneity complicates precision management of advanced endometrial cancer. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a minimally invasive strategy to capture tumor evolution and therapeutic resistance. Here, we compare tumor‐agnostic NGS with tumor‐informed ddPCR, outlining their relative sensitivity, concordance, and clinical implications ...

REDISTRIBUTION OF REGIONAL BLOOD FLOW IN HYPOTHERMIA

open access: yesThe Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, 1965
SUMMARY 1. Blood flow to the splanchnic region, the kidneys, and to the area supplied by the aorta below the renal arteries has been measured in normothermia and during progressive hypothermia with an electromagnetic flowmeter. 2. As hypothermia progresses, there is a shift of blood flow away from the kidneys toward the splanchnic region. 3.

DNA methylation and expression of MAPRE3 affect overall survival of early‐stage non‐small cell lung cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.

Strategy for the Measurement of Regional Cerebral Blood Flow Using Short-Lived Tracers and Emission Tomography

open access: yes, 1984
This report describes a strategy for measurement of regional CBF that rigorously accounts for differing tracer partition coefficients and recirculation, and is convenient for use with positron emission tomography.

Fluid Biomarkers of Disease Burden and Cognitive Dysfunction in Progressive Supranuclear Palsy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Identifying objective biomarkers for progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) is crucial to improving diagnosis and establishing clinical trial and treatment endpoints. This study evaluated fluid biomarkers in PSP versus controls and their associations with regional 18F‐PI‐2620 tau‐PET, clinical, and cognitive outcomes.
