Runoff uncertainty associated with global climate model chosen in regional climate modeling [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences
Uncertain climatic projections result in uncertain runoff predictions, which lead to unreliable water resources management and floods mitigation measures.

Multi-year downscaling application of two-way coupled WRF v3.4 and CMAQ v5.0.2 over east Asia for regional climate and air quality modeling: model evaluation and aerosol direct effects [PDF]

open access: yesGeoscientific Model Development, 2017
In this study, a regional coupled climate–chemistry modeling system using the dynamical downscaling technique was established by linking the global Community Earth System Model (CESM) and the regional two-way coupled Weather Research and Forecasting –

Modeling the Impacts of Climate Change on Phytogeographical Units. A Case Study of the Moesz Line

open access: yesJournal of Environmental Geography, 2013
Regional climate models (RCMs) provide reliable climatic predictions for the next 90 years with high horizontal and temporal resolution. In the 21st century northward latitudinal and upward altitudinal shift of the distribution of plant species and ...

The birth of a field through a marriage of scales: urban meteorological modeling meets regional climate modeling

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters
Urban meteorological modeling and regional climate modeling developed largely independently, with each discipline addressing different aspects of atmospheric processes across space and time.

Projecting regional climate and cropland changes using a linked biogeophysical‐socioeconomic modeling framework: 1. Model description and an equilibrium application over West Africa

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems, 2017
Agricultural land use alters regional climate through modifying the surface mass, energy, and momentum fluxes; climate influences agricultural land use through their impact on crop yields.

Process-based climate change assessment for European winds using EURO-CORDEX and global models

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters, 2022
Wind energy is an important pillar of decarbonization strategies and potentially vulnerable to climate change. Existing wind climate change assessments rely on climate models but a systematic investigation of the global-to-regional climate modeling chain

Climate projections for Vietnam based on regional climate models [PDF]

open access: yesClimate Research, 2014
This study uses an ensemble of regional climate models (RCMs) to simulate and pro- ject the climate of Vietnam. Outputs of 3 global climate models are dynamically downscaled using 3 RCMs. Experiments are performed for a baseline period from 1980 to 1999 and for a future pro- jection from 2000 to 2050 with the A1B emission scenario.

Aerosol effects during heat waves in summer 2022 and responses to emission change over China

open access: yesnpj Climate and Atmospheric Science
This study explores aerosol direct, indirect, and feedback effects on meteorology and fine particulate matter during heat waves of August 2022 over eastern China by using an online coupled regional climate–chemistry–aerosol model.
