Engineered Microvascular Model of the Blood–Brain–Tumor Barrier Reveals Endothelial Remodeling in Diffuse Midline Glioma

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We developed a patient‐derived, functional microfluidic model of the diffuse midline glioma (DMG) blood–brain–tumor barrier (BBTB) comprised of endothelial cells, astrocytes, pericytes, and tumor cells. The system forms perfusable microvasculature, reveals the BBTB retains vascular integrity, identifies DMG‐specific transcriptomic changes distinct from

The effect of a savings intervention on women’s intimate partner violence victimization: heterogeneous findings from a randomized controlled trial in Colombia

open access: yesBMC Women's Health, 2019
Background Women’s economic empowerment has long been assumed to lead to their social empowerment, but systematic tests of this relationship have only recently begun to appear in the literature.

Measuring the Hall Effect in Hysteretic Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The authors highlight common pitfalls in measuring the Hall effect: in hysteretic magnets, improper data processing can create signals that look exotic but are not real. This Perspective explains the origin of these artifacts and presents practical measurement strategies that help researchers identify reliable Hall responses in complex magnetic ...

Spatial Control of Light‐Responsive Proteins and Optogenetics Within Hydrogels via Volumetric Bioprinting

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Spatiotemporal control over cell behavior within bioprinted constructs remains a key challenge in biofabrication. Volumetric bioprinting using multi‐wavelength light sources permits to activate light‐sensitive intracellular proteins as well as optogenetic gene and protein expression circuits in bioprinted cells, in addition to enabling fast printing of

The analysis of registered partnerships

open access: yes, 2012
Smyslem této bakalářské práce je analýza institutu registrovaného partnerství, jakožto uzákoněné formy soužití dvou osob totožného pohlaví. V úvodu této práce zde autor nejprve pojednává o pojmu homosexuality a o dějinném vývoji přístupu k tomuto ...

Tailoring Symmetry Breaking in Engineered van der Waals Superlattices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We pioneer a scheme to tailor superpotentials in graphene based on intrinsic substrate electronic orders rather than twist angle. The resulting superpotential folds graphene's Dirac cones to either Γ$\Gamma$ or K‐points, leading to distinct symmetry behaviors.

Job guarantees, employability training and partnerships in the retail sector [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
This paper discusses the potential value of local, partnership-based employability training and job guarantee programmes, focusing on one example—the ‘Alloa Initiative’. The Initiative involved an employability training and job guarantee scheme developed

Moiré‐Induced Symmetry Breaking of Charge Order in van der Waals Heterostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A uniaxial moiré potential in misfit (MS)1+δTaS2 heterostructures selectively reshape charge order: the embedded 1H‐TaS2 layer hosts an incommensurate charge‐density wave, fragmented into nanometer domains and stripped of threefold symmetry. Superconductivity, however, remains uniform and fully gapped, revealing heterosymmetry stacking as a selective ...

Dynamic Fluorescence Modulation via Light‐Driven Competitive Protonation

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A two‐component molecular system demonstrates reversible, light‐driven fluorescence write–erase cycling and thermal imaging. Illumination of a merocyanine photoacid transfers a proton to a highly efficient fluorescent pyridinium dye, switching its emission color; thermal relaxation reverses the process in the dark.

The analysis of registered partnerships

open access: yes, 2011
The purpose of this bachelor thesis is the analysis of the institution of registered partnerships, as an enacted form of cohabitation of two persons of identical sex.
