Survivin and Aurora Kinase A control cell fate decisions during mitosis
Aurora A interacts with survivin during mitosis and regulates its centromeric role. Loss of Aurora A activity mislocalises survivin, the CPC and BubR1, leading to disruption of the spindle checkpoint and triggering premature mitotic exit, which we refer to as ‘mitotic slippage’.

CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

Liquid biopsy epigenetics: establishing a molecular profile based on cell‐free DNA
Cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) fragments in plasma from cancer patients carry epigenetic signatures reflecting their cells of origin. These epigenetic features include DNA methylation, nucleosome modifications, and variations in fragmentation. This review describes the biological properties of each feature and explores optimal strategies for harnessing cfDNA ...

From extended regular variation to regular variation with application in extreme value statistics
This paper offers a unified treatment of the asymptotic properties for most estimators of extreme value characteristics to be found in the literature. A relation between regular variation and extended regular variation of second order is established. The study is organized in five sections, the first two preparing the background necessary for the proof

Combined effects in nonlinear singular second-order differential equations on the half-line
We consider the existence, uniqueness and the asymptotic behavior of positive continuous solutions to the second-order boundary-value problem $$\displaylines{ \frac{1}{A}(Au')'+a_1(t)u^{\sigma _1}+a_2(t)u^{\sigma _2}=0,\quad t\in (0,\infty ), \cr ...

Screening effects in Gaussian random fields under generalized spectral conditions
The screening effect is a central idea in spatial prediction: once nearby observations are used, distant ones add little. While Stein’s classical results explain this effect under strong spectral conditions, many models used in practice fall outside ...

Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.
