Numerical study of a novel small waterplane area USV advancing in calm water and in waves using the higher-order Rankine source method

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics, 2023
The wave loads and motion responses of an Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) in water will directly influence the powering requirement, energy supply design and function of the installed sensors.

Computational Investigation of Seakeeping Performance of a Surfaced Submarine in Regular Waves

open access: yes한국해양공학회지, 2022
A submarine is optimized to operate below the water surface because it spends most of its time in a submerged condition. However, the performance in free surface conditions is also important because it is unavoidable for port departure and arrival ...

Experimental and Numerical Investigation of the Added Resistance in Regular Head Waves for the DTC Hull

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2023
Reducing the added resistance in waves has become a crucial aspect of today’s ship design. The added resistance in waves is traditionally considered proportional to the square of wave height.

Investigation on seakeeping performance of an oil tanker on regular waves

open access: yesAnnals of "Dunărea de Jos" University of Galaţi: Fascicle XI Shipbuilding, 2022
In this paper, investigation on seakeeping performance of an oil tanker on regular waves is presented. The numerical simulation was performed using a 3D diffrac-tion/radiation potential theory 3-D panel software.

Wave Communication across Regular Lattices [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2009
We propose a novel way to communicate signals in the form of waves across a d - dimensional lattice. The mechanism is based on quantum search algorithms and makes it possible to both search for marked positions in a regular grid and to communicate between two (or more) points on the lattice. Remarkably, neither the sender nor the receiver needs to know

Development of Three-Dimensional Scour below Pipelines in Regular Waves

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2022
The three-dimensional scour beneath a partially-buried pipeline in regular waves was visualized using a miniature camera installed in a transparent pipeline. The scour mechanism was analyzed based on the results.

Flow Field Characteristic Analysis of Cushion System of Partial Air Cushion Support Catamaran in Regular Waves

open access: yesPolish Maritime Research, 2022
In order to study the flow field characteristics of cushion system of partial air cushion support catamaran (PACSCAT) in waves, an analysis was carried out involving flexible treatment on the bow and stern air seals to simulate air seal shape under test ...

The Focusing Waves Induced by Bragg Resonance with V-Shaped Undulating Bottom

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2021
Intensive wave reflection occurs when the wavelengths of the incident waves and bottom undulations are in a 2:1 ratio. Existing studies have included the Bragg resonance phenomenon of waves passing over a continuous undulating bottom parallel to and ...

Composite Waves in the Dafermos Regularization [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Dynamics and Differential Equations, 2004
The authors consider a scalar system of conservation laws and study the simplest composite wave. They show that the Dafermos boundary value problem has nearby solutions. The proof is based on Szmolyan's geometric approach and its application to the blow up construction.
