Punching shear strength of steel fibre reinforced lightweight concrete slabs. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
One of the problems in slab-column connections is the punching shear failure at over loads. Such failures are sudden and catastrophic, and are undesirable since they do not allow an overall yield mechanism to ...

Closed-form equations for flange force and maximum deflection of box-beams of fiber reinforced polymer with partial shear interaction between webs and flanges [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Presented in the paper is the formulation of a governing second-order differential equation for the moment distribution along the length of a beam having two interfaces with partial shear interaction where two flange and two web components join to form ...

X‐Functionality–Driven Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution in 2D 4‐X‐PEA2SnI4 Perovskites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We report a water‐based synthesis of 2D 4‐X‐PEA2SnI4 perovskite microcrystals with prominent photocatalytic (PC) activity for H2 production. The synergy between organic functionalization and HI‐derived iodide scavenges holes suppress octahedral distortion, and favor electron accumulation, enabling a PC H2 evolution ∼20 µmol·g−1 and long‐term stability ...

Influence of section depth on the structural behaviour of reinforced concrete continuous deep beams

open access: yes, 2007
YesAlthough the depth of reinforced concrete deep beams is much higher than that of slender beams, extensive existing tests on deep beams have focused on simply supported beams with a scaled depth below 600 mm.

Tough, Ductile, and Strong Hard‐Soft Cementitious Composite Enabled by Multi‐Material Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Drawing inspiration from the layered hard‐soft architecture found in sea sponges, this work establishes a new framework for architected cementitious composites (ACC) through multi‐material additive manufacturing (MMAM) process. The integration of mortar and elastomer phases into layered architectures enables synergistic toughening mechanisms, including

FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS OF DEEP BEAM UNDER DIRECT AND INDIRECT LOAD

open access: yesMağallaẗ Al-kūfaẗ Al-handasiyyaẗ, 2018
This research study the effect of exist of opening in web of deep beam loaded directly and indirectly and the behavior of reinforced concrete deep beams without with and without web reinforcement, the opening size and shear span ratio (a/d) was constant.

Shear resistance of reinforced concrete beams with and without steel fibres. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
The fabrication and placement of conventional shear rein- forcement are time consuming and costly and its use in thin structural concrete members is often impractical.

Collision‐Resilient Winged Drones Enabled by Tensegrity Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Based on structures of birds such as the woodpeck, this article presents the collision‐resilient aerial robot, SWIFT. SWIFT leverages tensegrity structures in the fuselage and wings which allow it to undergo large deformations in a crash, without sustaining damage. Experiments show that SWIFT can reduce impact forces by 70% over conventional structures.

Long-Term Monitoring of RC Beams under Different Partial Alkali–Silica Reactions: Experimental Results and Restraint Mechanisms

open access: yesBuildings
The alkali–silica reaction significantly impacts the durability of reinforced concrete structures. This paper aims to investigate the structural expansion properties of reinforced concrete beams under different partial alkali–silica reactions.

Flexural Test of Fly Ash based Geopolimer Concrete Beams

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2017
Fly ash is a by-product from the coal industry, which is widely available in Indonesia. Fly ash contains quite high silicate and alumina. Silica and alumina reacts with alkaline solution to produce alumina silicate gel which binds the aggregate to ...
