Performance assessment for a reinforced concrete frame building
Earthquake Spectra, 2000This paper evaluates the performance of a seven‐story reinforced concrete frame building that was severely damaged during the 1994 Northridge, California, earthquake. The building was designed and constructed in the 1960s and contains details that are typical of that construction era in the western United States.

Nonlinear Model for Plane Reinforced Concrete Frames
Civil-Comp Proceedings, 2009A nonlinear finite element model is proposed in order to analyse reinforced concrete frames. The finite element adopted is constituted by an elastic beam, having axial and flexural stiffness, connected to nodes by means of two potential generalised plastic hinges, having rigid-perfectly plastic behaviour. Activation of plastic hinges occurs as internal

Seismic Damage in Reinforced Concrete Frames
Journal of the Structural Division, 1981Seismic damage in reinforced concrete frames is predicted by analytical methods. Analytical models are developed which can reproduce the behavior of reinforced concrete members under cyclic loads. Accuracy of the analytical models is checked by considering a set of quasi-static cyclic load tests, and the models are found to be sufficiently accurate ...

On the nonlinear behaviour of reinforced concrete frames
Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering, 1990An experimental investigation is described in which a large-scale reinforced concrete plane frame is tested to study factors contributing to its nonlinear behaviour under short-term loading conditions. The test results indicate that frame behaviour can be significantly affected by second-order influences such as material nonlinearities, geometric ...

Modified Harmony Search for Optimization of Reinforced Concrete Frames
2017In this study, harmony search algorithm is modified with several random search stages for optimum design of reinforced concrete frame structures. The structure is subjected to both static and dynamic forces. A detailed optimum design was proposed without grouping the design variables of the frame structure.

Lateral Stiffness of Plane Reinforced Concrete Frame
Civil-Comp Proceedings, 1997Abstract This paper discusses applying a nonlinear analytical model to reinforced concrete frames for computing its response to lateral loading. The nonlinear analysis takes into effect the material and geometric nonlinearities. From lateral loading and lateral drift, lateral stiffness can be obtained.

Seismic Overstrength in Reinforced Concrete Frames
Journal of Structural Engineering, 1995Seismic overstrength of multistory reinforced concrete frames has been assessed by means of nonlinear pseudostatic analysis on four-bay, three-, six-, and nine-story frames designed for seismic zones I to V as per Indian codes. In pseudostatic analysis, the lateral force profile corresponding to the first mode of elastic vibration is applied ...

Inelastic Analysis of Reinforced Concrete Frames
Journal of the Structural Division, 1974The imposed rotation method for the inelastic analysis of frames rests on the interpretation of the actual bending moment distribution as the superposition of linear elastic moment responses to loads and to unknown plastic rotations regarded as imposed strains.

Design of Reinforced Concrete Infilled Frames
Journal of Structural Engineering, 2014AbstractThe work presented in this paper aimed to evaluate the diagonal strut model for the design of reinforced concrete (RC) infilled frames, already broadly used as a design tool in the case of masonry infilled RC frames. The assumptions on which the strut model provisions in codes are based are reviewed.
