Metaheuristic Optimization of Reinforced Concrete Frames
2020In this chapter, an optimum design methodology for reinforced concrete (RC) frames are presented. In the optimum design of frames, both beams and columns are optimized. In addition to that, internal forces can be modified according to rigidity of members for statically indetermined frames.

Limit Design of Reinforced Concrete Frames
Journal of the Structural Division, 1968A limit design method is presented in which load factors against all possible modes of structural collapse and against yield of all critical sections are prescribed. The design plastic moments are some fractions of the elastic envelope moments under the specified ultimate load.

Moment redistribution in reinforced concrete frames
Journal of the Chinese Institute of Engineers, 1986Abstract The nonlinear behavior of reinforced concrete frames with sidesway is governed by two effects: first, the nonlinearity of materials due to cracking and the plastic behavior of materials, and second, the nonlinearity of geometry caused by the second‐order deformation.

Rehabilitation of reinforced concrete frames by reinforced concrete infill walls
2020ABSTRACT Seismic rehabilitation of the existing reinforced concrete framed buildings is an important engineering problem. The main aim of the rehabilitation process is to upgrade the stiffness, strength of the structure to the required level and to reduce the lateral drift below an acceptable limit. To satisfy all these requirements, introducing infill

Inelastic behaviour of reinforced concrete frames
Magazine of Concrete Research, 1976Synopsis The paper presents the results of tests on eight two-bay closed rectangular frames tested to destruction under different sequences of loading. In most cases, plastic hinges formed leading to the formation of collapse mechanisms. Under sway loads, the shear forces were higher and in some cases unexpected shear failures occurred.

Reinforcement Detailing in Concrete Frame Corners
ACI Structural Journal, 2001This paper presents results of an experimental study and a literature survey of the reinforcement detailing in concrete frame corners subjected to closing or opening moment. A total of 11 full-scale specimens (8 for closing moment and 3 for opening moment) were tested to evaluate whether a new reinforcement detailing using reinforcement loops lap ...

Unilateral Damage in Reinforced Concrete Frames
2015One of the main applications of the lumped damage mechanics or the damage mechanics of dual systems is the earthquake vulnerability assessment of structures. This means not only the consideration of the inertia forces but, mainly, the adequate description of crack propagation under general cyclic loading.
