AFRP retrofit of reinforced concrete columns against impact loading [PDF]
Structures can be exposed to impact loads as a result of an explosion, falling objects, projectiles and vehicle collisions. Within the increasing threat of these impact sources, it is very important to protect the columns that are the vital members of ...

Collision‐Resilient Winged Drones Enabled by Tensegrity Structures
Based on structures of birds such as the woodpeck, this article presents the collision‐resilient aerial robot, SWIFT. SWIFT leverages tensegrity structures in the fuselage and wings which allow it to undergo large deformations in a crash, without sustaining damage. Experiments show that SWIFT can reduce impact forces by 70% over conventional structures.

Scalable Electrochemical Concrete Fabrication and Closed‐Loop Recycling
The electrochemical‐driven recycling strategy establishes a reversible concrete material flow by extracting Ca, Si, Al, and Fe from concrete waste and regenerating functional feedstocks. These reversed products are reassembled into new concrete, which re‐enters service and ultimately returns to waste, enabling a closed‐loop, waste‐origin, and low ...

Equivalent stress block for normal-strength concrete incorporating strain gradient effect [PDF]
To account for the different behaviours of concrete under uniaxial compression and bending in the flexural strength design of reinforced concrete (RC) members, the stress-strain curve of concrete is normally scaled down so that the adopted maximum ...
