Design of Reinforced Concrete Slabs

1996
Reinforced concrete slabs are used in floors, roofs and walls of buildings and as the decks of bridges. The floor system of a structure can take many forms such as in situ solid slabs, ribbed slabs or precast units. Slabs may span in one direction or in two directions and they may be supported on monolithic concrete beams, steel beams, walls or ...

Strength capacity of square reinforced concrete slabs

Materialwissenschaft und Werkstofftechnik, 2012
AbstractThe results of three experimentally tested simply supported square concrete slabs with three different arrangements of the total bottom reinforcement are presented firstly. The slabs were incrementally loaded up to failure by a short‐term static force at the slab mid‐span.

ARCHING ACTION IN FRP REINFORCED CONCRETE SLABS

Construction and Building Materials, 2004
Abstract The corrosion of reinforcement embedded in concrete has been the cause of major deterioration and of high costs in repair and maintenance. Fibre reinforced polymers (FRP) exhibit high durability in combination with high strength and light weight.

One-Way Reinforced Concrete Slabs

1998
The simplest routine structural element for illustration of design provisions in the Code is the one-way slab. A one-way slab is defined for purposes of this book as a flexural member with depth small relative to other dimensions, supporting (gravity) loads applied normal to and directly over its surface, spanning in one direction between parallel ...

Direct design of reinforced concrete skew slabs

Computers & Structures, 1988
Abstract This paper presents the results of an experimental and theoretical analysis of the behaviour of reinforced skew slabs designed by the Direct Design Procedure. The method adopted satisfies the fundamental concepts of classical plasticity leading in practice to the lower bound on the collapse load. The method also ensure considerable reduction

Concrete Slabs Reinforced with FRP or Steel Reinforcements

Journal of Reinforced Plastics and Composites, 2008
Experiments are first conducted on simply-supported square concrete slabs with fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) reinforcements with a gradually increasing concentrated central static load. Similar experiments on slabs are then repeated with steel reinforcements.

Fire Response of Reinforced Concrete Slabs

Journal of the Structural Division, 1979
A mathematical procedure is described by which the structural response of reinforced concrete slabs in fire environments can be predicted. The procedure has been implemented in a computer program, FIRES-SL. An iterative approach is used within time steps to find a deformed shape at which external loads and internal stresses are in equilibrium.

RESPONSE OF DEEP REINFORCED CONCRETE SLABS

1965
Abstract : The response of deep reinforced concrete slabs to uniformly distributed dynamic loads as high as 700 psi was measured and compared with the static behavior of companion slabs. Comparisons between theoretical and experimental results were made.

Reinforced Concrete Double-Layer Grid Slabs

International Journal of Space Structures, 1993
In reinforced concrete buildings, the floor and roof construction are the major components of the structural system. In order to reduce dead weight and improve the total behaviour of the system, a new double-layer grid slab concept has been developed and tested.
