Retrofitting of masonry building with reinforced masonry ring-beam

Construction and Building Materials, 2009
Abstract To improve the behavior of the connection between the roof and the masonry walls, reinforced concrete ring-beams were commonly used in these last years. This technique have proved to be effective, but, at the same time, the different properties of concrete and masonry require an adequate connection to the underlying masonry and the ...

Micromechanical Analysis of Reinforced Masonry

2004
In this paper a homogenization procedure is developed for a one-dimensional reinforced masonry problem, considering the progressive damage and plasticity of the mortar and the block. The brittle failure of the FRP reinforcement is accounted for. The delamination effect of the composite sheets from the masonry element is also modeled.

The Next Step Reinforced Masonry

Batiment International, Building Research and Practice, 1983
Completing his exposition of the progress of codification for structural design in brick or blockwork, the author deals here with the considerations affecting reinforced masonry: Although reinforced masonry has been used since 1825, and although it has long been accepted that its design can be based on the principles used for reinforced concrete, there
