Structural Reinforcement of a Masonry Building
Key Engineering Materials, 2019A structural reinforcement carried out on a 12th century mansion in masonry with the aim of a seismic improvement valued as a decrease in the Seismic Risk Class [4].The reinforcement technique combines the use of FRP systems with carbon fiber strips applied to the external perimeter walls and FRCM systems applied to the internal walls. The proposed ...

Characterization and Reinforcement of Stone Masonry Walls
2013Stone masonry is one of the oldest “structural materials” known to man. It is made by the superposition of stones, mortar and, very often, with infill material between leaves. The components present complex links and interactions and, in most cases, unknown geometry and high variability of their mechanical properties.

Reinforcement of Masonry Structures
2013A large part of all real estate properties is represented by masonry structures, which, in many cases, have a historical significance. The reinforcement, improvement, or seismic adjustment of such structures can often be carried out by using composite materials.

Reinforced Masonry Design and Practice
Journal of the Structural Division, 1961Purpose of progress report of Task Committee of Committee on Masonry and Reinforced Concrete is to present recommended practice for design and construction of reinforced masonry structures, that is, to place in hands of engineers evaluation and correlation of present knowledge so that they may more readily design masonry structures and to guide ...

Reinforced Blockwork Masonry Columns
ACI Structural Journal, 1993This paper gives the results of an experimental investigation to determine the strength and to study the behavior of blockwork masonry columns subjected to axial load. The effects of using different diameters of lateral ties and different percentages of vertical bars were also investigated.

Confined and Reinforced Masonry Buildings
2015Masonry structures would continue to be built in large numbers in spite of masonry not being an ideal material under seismic impact. As a result, a large population in rural India will continue to live in such abodes. Hence, it is important to provide guidelines which, if followed, can minimise damage and save many lives in the event of an earthquake ...

Deflection of Reinforced Masonry Members
ACI Structural Journal, 1990This paper deals with deflection of single-withe reinforced masonry flexural members subject to out-of-plane loads. The theory of deflection, which is applicable to both concrete and clay masonry, is presented. Reduction of stiffness due to cracking under service loads is taken into account. It is also shown how 'tension stiffening' affects deflection.

REINFORCEMENT OF MASONRY STRUCTURES USING INTERNAL MASONRY REINFORCEMENT SYSTEMS
