Seismic Risk of Critical Transport Systems: Sensitivity Analysis of the Campania Railway Network to Bradyseism's Features

open access: yesRisk Analysis, Volume 46, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT This study examines the impact of epistemic uncertainties on the seismic risk of a critical transport system, the Campania railway network, during the ongoing bradyseismic unrest at Campi Flegrei, south of Italy. Seismic risk is quantified as the length of the railway requiring post‐event inspection, an operational proxy for service disruption.

Experimental Study and FEM Analysis on the Strengthening of Masonry Brick Walls Using Expanded Steel Plates and Shotcrete with and Without Glass Fiber Reinforcement

open access: yesBuildings
In this study, an effective strengthening method was investigated to improve the seismic performance of masonry brick walls. The strengthening method comprised the use of shotcrete, which was applied in both glass fiber-reinforced and unreinforced forms ...

Experimental Analysis of Failure Mechanisms in Masonry-PFRP Profiles Connections

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2018
Fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) profiles, with their low density, high durability, and ease of construction, are particularly suitable for the retrofit of traditional masonry structures, particularly historic constructions in seismic zones.

Shear Capacity of Masonry Walls Externally Strengthened via Reinforced Khorasan Jacketing

open access: yesBuildings
This study investigates the in-plane shear behavior of solid brick masonry walls, both unreinforced and retrofitted using Reinforced Khorasan Jacketing (RHJ), a traditional pozzolanic mortar technique rooted in Iranian and Ottoman architecture.

Shear Strengthening of Stone Masonry Walls Using Textile-Reinforced Sarooj Mortar

open access: yesBuildings
Most historical buildings and structures in Oman were built using unreinforced stone masonry. These structures have deteriorated due to the aging of materials, environmental degradation, and lack of maintenance.

Improved Bond Stress-Slip Relationships for Carbon Fibre-Reinforced Polymer-Strengthened Masonry Triplets

open access: yesBuildings
Carbon fibre-reinforced polymer (CFRP) emerges as a viable solution for reinforcing unreinforced masonry (URM) walls subjected to shear loads. While masonry structures are straightforward to construct, the complexity of the construction materials ...

Study on the Seismic Performance of Autoclaved Fly Ash Brick Masonry Walls Restrained by Assembly Ring Beam and Construction Column

open access: yes工程科学与技术, 2018
In order to solve the brick masonry structures’ problems such as the low level of earthquake fortification, non-standard construction and energy-wasting features of wall materials in masonry structures, a new-type assembly autoclaved fly ash brick ...
