Hybrid Microdiscs for Magnetically Induced Non‐Cytotoxic Thermal Actuation and Programmable Biomolecule Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Hybrid magnetic microdiscs with customizable size and composition are engineered through refined photolithography and LbL assembly. Embedded Fe3O4 nanoparticles enable localized, non‐cytotoxic heating, while protein cargos can be incorporated in tunable quantities.

Recovery of tigers in India: Critical introspection and potential lessons

open access: yesPeople and Nature, 2021
In a world where biodiversity is on the decline, examples of conservation success especially of large carnivores are of interest to policy makers and conservation practitioners. Herein, we elucidate the conservation actions that have been responsible for

Localized High‐Concentration Electrolyte with Water‐Miscible Diluent Enables Stable Zinc Deposition and Long‐Life Aqueous Zinc Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A diisopropyl ether (DIPE)‐based, localized, high‐concentration electrolyte is developed to stabilize both electrodes in aqueous zinc batteries. By reducing water activity and promoting anion‐rich zinc‐ion solvation, it builds robust interphases at both the cathode and anode, ensuring uniform deposition, suppressed corrosion, and highly reversible ...

Autism and mild epilepsy associated with a de novo missense pathogenic variant in the GTPase effector domain of DNM1

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part C: Seminars in Medical Genetics, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Dynamin 1 is a GTPase protein involved in synaptic vesicle fission, which facilitates the exocytosis of neurotransmitters necessary for normal signaling. Pathogenic variants in the DNM1 gene are associated with intractable epilepsy, often manifested as infantile spasms at onset, developmental delay, and a movement disorder, and are located in ...

Long live the cat: Ocelot population viability in a planned reintroduced population in Texas, USA

open access: yesEcosphere
Reintroductions are often needed to recover carnivore populations and restore ecological processes. Felids are common subjects of reintroduction efforts, but published population models informing felid reintroduction plans are uncommon, and poor planning

Clinical outcomes of intermittent panitumumab based-therapy for previously treated older patient with metastatic colorectal cancer: a case report and review of literature

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
BackgroundMetastatic colorectal cancer is one of the most common causes of cancer death worldwide, and its incidence increases with age. Treating an older RAS and BRAF wild-type patient represents a challenge for the medical oncologist, even more so for ...

How to Chemically Protect PFAS‐Free Membranes in Fuel Cells: Radical Quenching Poly(vinylphosphonic acid) Layer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Hydrocarbon membranes are a greener alternative to PFSA in PEM fuel cells, but degrade rapidly from radical attack. We present a novel strategy using poly(vinylphosphonic acid) (PVPA) as a local radical scavenger. Incorporated as an interfacial barrier, PVPA enhances chemical stability and significantly extends membrane lifetime under accelerated ...

Personality in Zoo-Hatched Blanding’s Turtles Affects Behavior and Survival After Reintroduction Into the Wild

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2019
Reintroduction programs in which captive-bred or reared animals are released into natural habitats are considered a key approach for conservation; however, success rates have generally been low.
