Gas‐Phase Formation of Sulfurous Acid (H2SO3) in the Atmosphere

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Volume 63, Issue 30, July 22, 2024.
Laboratory experiments show the formation of sulfurous acid (H2SO3) from the gas‐phase reaction of OH radicals with CH3S(O)OH for atmospheric reaction conditions with a molar yield of ∼50 %. H2SO3 represents a hard‐to‐reach acid that has never been observed in aqueous solution. In the gas phase, if once formed, it shows a certain kinetic stability with

Constraining reionization morphology and source properties with 21 cm galaxy cross-correlation surveys

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
Cross-correlations between 21 cm observations and galaxy surveys provide a powerful probe of reionization by providing robustness against foreground contamination while linking ionization morphology to galaxies. We quantified the constraining power of 21

Improved Constraints on the 21 cm EoR Power Spectrum and the X-Ray Heating of the IGM with HERA Phase I Observations

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
We report the most sensitive upper limits to date on the 21 cm epoch of reionization power spectrum using 94 nights of observing with Phase I of the Hydrogen Epoch of Reionization Array (HERA).

Optical Evidence of Compositional Fractioning between Plasma‐Condensed and Melt Pool Matter

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 26, Issue 13, July 2024.
This work presents an initial look at correlating the optical emissions of the weld plasma to that of the composition of particles condesned from the plasma plume. Particles removed from the melt pool through the plasma plume have atomic percent level differences in composition of alloy elements when compared to the originating metal.

Updating and profiling the natural product‐likeness of Latin American compound libraries**

open access: yesMolecular Informatics, Volume 43, Issue 7, July 2024.
We discuss a comparative and extensive profiling of the natural product‐likeness of an updated version of LANaPDB and the individual ten compound databases that form part of LANaPDB. The profiling is conducted with three different chemoinformatics metrics.

The Universe is at Most 88% Neutral at z = 10.6

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters, 2023
Recent observations of GN-z11 with JWST have revealed a Ly α emission line with an equivalent width (EW) of 18 ± 2 Å. At z = 10.6, this galaxy is expected to lie in the heart of reionization.

The Impact of Stellar Initial Mass Function on the Epoch of Reionization: Insights from Semi-Analytic Galaxy Modeling

open access: yesUniverse
The adequate choice of stellar initial mass function (IMF) is crucial when studying high-z galaxy formation and the epoch of reionization (EoR) models. We employ the semi-analytical galaxy model L-Galaxies2020 and the dark matter simulation Millennium-II,

Reionization on ice

open access: yes, 2006
The case for substantial far infrared ice emission in local ultraluminous infrared galaxies, expected based on the presence of mid-infrared ice absorption in their spectra and the known far infrared optical properties of ice, is still largely unsupported by direct observation owing to insufficient far infrared spectral coverage.

POLAR

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
Context. Galaxies may suffer some starburst and quenched periods in their history due to galaxy mergers and feedback. However, semi-numerical simulations of the Epoch of Reionization (EoR) do not accurately model the effects of the star formation history
