Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Influence of Rejuvenation Heat Treatment on Creep Property for Nickel-Based Directionally Solidified Superalloy

open access: yesChinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering
Creep is one of the most typical failure modes for the turbine blades of an aero-engine. The microstructure of the turbine blades after long-term service can be adjusted by rejuvenation heat treatment (RHT) to restore its creep properties.

Experimental Study on Rejuvenation of Aged Power Cables via Simulation Operation

open access: yesEnergies
Thermal effects play a crucial role in the evolution of insulation performance in power cables during long-term operation. Before the experiments, crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE) sheets and cables were thermally aged at 105 °C for up to 180 days.

LINC01116, a hypoxia‐lncRNA marker of pathological lymphangiogenesis and poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...

Laser surface melting and heat treatment of Tomilloy nickel-based superalloy as gas turbine transition part after service

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
In this study, a hot gas transition part made of Tomilloy nickel-based superalloy, which has been in service at 1000 °C for 32,000 h, was investigated. In this research, to recover the properties, the alloy underwent rejuvenation treatments.

Age-related changes to macrophages are detrimental to fracture healing in mice. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The elderly population suffers from higher rates of complications during fracture healing that result in increased morbidity and mortality. Inflammatory dysregulation is associated with increased age and is a contributing factor to the myriad of age ...

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Rejuvenation of brain, liver and muscle by simultaneous pharmacological modulation of two signaling determinants, that change in opposite directions with age. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We hypothesize that altered intensities of a few morphogenic pathways account for most/all the phenotypes of aging. Investigating this has revealed a novel approach to rejuvenate multiple mammalian tissues by defined pharmacology.

Recent Progress in Spin Glasses

open access: yes, 2004
We review recent findings on spin glass models. Both the equilibrium properties and the dynamic properties are covered. We focus on progress in theoretical, in particular numerical, studies, while its relationship to real magnetic materials is also ...
