Temperature and field dependence of Dynamics in the Electron-Glass

open access: yes, 2006
We describe several experimental methods to quantify dynamics in electron glasses and illustrate their use in the glassy phase of crystalline indium-oxide films.

Tumor‐stromal crosstalk and macrophage enrichment are associated with chemotherapy response in bladder cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemoresistance in bladder cancer: Macrophage recruitment associated with CXCL1, CXCL5 and CXCL8 expression is characteristic of Gemcitabine/Cisplatin (Gem/Cis) Non‐Responder tumors (right side) while Responder tumors did not show substantial tumor‐stromal crosstalk (left side). All biological icons are attributed to Bioicons: carcinoma, cancerous‐cell‐

Nature of the glassy magnetic state in Cu$_{2.84}$Mn$_{0.44}$Al$_{0.72}$ shape memory alloy

open access: yes, 2013
The magnetic ground state of the ferromagnetic shape memory alloy of nominal composition Cu$_{2.84}$Mn$_{0.44}$Al$_{0.72}$ was investigated. The sample shows reentry of a glassy magnetic phase below the martensitic transition temperature, which is found ...

On the formation of low-mass black holes in massive binary stars [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Recently (Brown \& Bethe 1994) it was suggested that most stars with main sequence mass in the range of about $18 - 30 M_{\odot}$ explode, returning matter to the Galaxy, and then go into low-mass ($\geq 1.5 M_{\odot}$) black holes.

The cooperative regulation of miR‐221 by APE1 and AUF1 impacts p27Kip1 defining a miR signature relevant for cervical cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A regulatory axis involving APE1, AUF1, and miR‐221 is proposed. Pri‐miR‐221 is processed by DROSHA and DICER to generate mature miR‐221, which targets p27Kip1 mRNA. APE1 and AUF1 compete for pre‐miR‐221 binding. Reduced APE1/AUF1 levels impair miR‐221 biogenesis, decrease p27Kip1 mRNA degradation, and promote cell cycle progression, chemoresistance ...

'Vaginal Rejuvenation' and the Regulation of New Technologies: Controls Are Still Lacking

open access: yesEuropean Medical Journal, 2017
A tour of the stands at the 41st International Urogynaecology Association (IUGA) Annual Meeting in August 2016 revealed a growing number of companies with machines aimed at ‘vaginal rejuvenation’, an industry-driven misnomer, with promises of tightening ...

Dependence of structures and performances of soft-magnetic FeCo-based metal glasses on cryogenic treatments

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
The amorphous structures, thermal stability, soft-magnetic properties and microhardness have been explored for quaternary quenched (Fe0.8Co0.2)75B21Ta4 (Fe0.8) and (Fe0.5Co0.5)75B21Ta4 (Fe0.5) metallic glasses (MGs) after deep (77 K), moderate (173 K ...

Dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) regulates trophoblast syncytialization through organelle stress–induced cellular senescence

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The inhibition of mitochondrial dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) impairs syncytialization and induces cellular senescence via mitochondrial and endoplasmic reticulum stress in human trophoblast stem cells, elevating sFlt1/PlGF levels, a hallmark of placental dysfunction in hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.

Hysteresis in the electronic transport of V2O3 thin films: non-exponential kinetics and range scale of phase coexistence

open access: yes, 2008
The thermal hysteresis of the electronic transport properties were studied for V2O3 thin films. The temporal evolution of the resistance shows the out-of-equilibrium nature of this hysteresis with a very slow relaxation.
