The significance of relatedness in healthcare [PDF]

open access: yesMedicine, Health Care and Philosophy, 2014
The tradition of anthropological medicine in the first half of the twentieth century regarded medicine first of all as a relational activity. Diversity Patterns of Domestic Herbivore Viruses in China Reveal Transmission Dynamics with Disease Management Implications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study performs pan‐viromic profiling of 14,529 samples from 5,710 domestic herbivores across five Chinese provinces, establishing the DhCN‐Virome (1,085,360 viral metagenomes). It reveals species/sample‐specific viromic signatures and cross‐species transmission dynamics, aiding unified disease control.

Delivery of Pleckstrin‐Homology Domains Suppresses PI3K/Akt Signaling and Breast Cancer Metastasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Current therapies curb tumor growth but not metastasis. Obscurin, a giant metastasis suppressor lost in breast cancer, restrains PI3K/Akt signaling but is impractical to restore. We deploy a mini‐obscurin, comprising the obscurin‐PH‐domain, which sequesters PI3K‐p85, potently suppressing invasion and metastasis.
