Predicting Customers Churn in a Relational Database [PDF]

open access: yesInformatică economică, 2014
This paper explores how two main classical classification models work and generate predictions through a commercial solution of relational database management system (Microsoft SQL Server 2012). The aim of the paper is to accurately predict churn among a

Getting Along with Relational Databases

open access: yesJournal of the Text Encoding Initiative, 2021
Both relational databases and XML have strengths and weaknesses as data storage and modelling systems. Most researchers working with Humanities historical and literary data would argue for the superiority of XML, since it allows unlimited nesting, linking, and complexity.

Semantic query in a relational database using a local ontology construction (Retracted)

open access: yesSouth African Journal of Science, 2012
Semantic Web refers to a Web of linked data in which data can be shared and reused, allowing more uses than the traditional 'Web of documents'. However, most of the information on the Web is stored in relational databases and such databases cannot be ...

Structuring, Recording, and Analyzing Historical Networks in the China Biographical Database

open access: yesJournal of Historical Network Research, 2021
The China Biographical Database (CBDB) is a relational database of over 450,000 individuals from pre-modern Chinese history. CBDB is distinctive as a prosopographical database in that it allows users to generate kinship and social networks for ...

Database relations with null values [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Computer and System Sciences, 1982
A new formalism for null values is developed, based on the semantics that a null value conveys no information; that it is less informative then either an ''exists but unknown'' or a ''no value'' null. What results is a theory of ''heterogeneous relations'': relations with tuples over different schemes.

Transforming Fuzzy Spatiotemporal Data From Relational Databases to XML

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
On account of the poor shareability of fuzzy spatiotemporal data in Web while XML could contribute to information performance and information interaction flexibly, we study the methodology of modeling the fuzzy spatiotemporal data based on relational ...

A comparative analysis of non-relational databases in e-commerce applications

open access: yesJournal of Computer Sciences Institute, 2023
In this article, a comparative analysis of non-relational databases was conducted to determine the best database for e-commerce systems. Non-relational systems such as MongoDB and Apache Cassandra were used for the study and the results were compared ...

A relational dataflow database [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
A model of a relational database system based on the principles of functional, data-driven computation is proposed. Relations (sets of data tuples) are represented as streams of values carried by independent tokens among operators of an unraveling ...

Distributed Model-Based Diagnosis using Object-Relational Constraint Databases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This work presents a proposal to diagnose distributed systems utilizing model-based diagnosis using distributed databases. In order to improve aspects as versatility, persistence, easy composition and efficiency in the diagnosis process we use an ...

Adequacy of Decompositions of Relational Databases

open access: yesJournal of Computer and System Sciences, 1980
AbstractWe consider conditions that have appeared in the literature with the purpose of defining a “good” decomposition of a relation scheme. We show that these notions are equivalent in the case that all constraints in the database are functional dependencies. This result solves an open problem of Rissanen.
