MORPHOMETRIC AND MERISTIC PARAMETERS OF SARDINE (Sardina pilchardus, Walbaum, 1792) IN THE ZADAR FISHING AREA [PDF]

open access: yesCroatian Journal of Fisheries, 2010
This paper presents the results of some morphometric and meristic parameters of sardine, Sardina pilchardus (Walbaum, 1792) from coastal (Virsko more) and open waters (Dugi Otok) of the Zadar area, during the period from March 2004 to February 2005.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Growth of the Anchovy Anchoa tricolor in a brazilian subtropical estuary

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências, 2018
This study aimed to describe the growth parameters of Anchoa tricolor in a subtropical estuary. From August 2010 to July 2011, 10.009 specimens of the anchovy Anchoa tricolor, mean total length 4.2 cm (±1.45), were captured in the intertidal region of ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Length-Weight and Length-Length Relationships ofCapoeta sieboldiifrom Hirfanli Dam Lake, Turkey [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Freshwater Ecology, 2010
ABSTRACT This study describes the length-weight (LWR) and length-length relationships of Capoeta sieboldii from Hirfanli Dam Lake, Turkey. Condition factor (K) was also calculated per fork length class of females and males. A total of 170 individuals was collected from monthly sampling between March 2004 and August 2005.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.
