Size Structure of Areolate Grouper (Epinephelus areolatus, Forsskal, 1775 ) from the Saudi Coast of Arabian Gulf

open access: yesMarine and Fishery Sciences, 2022
Areaolate grouper, Epinephelus areolatus are one of reef-associated fish species that is highly sought-after in the seafood trade. The high market demand resulted to overexploitation and population decline of the species in the wild. This paper aimed to

Therapeutic Apheresis for Intravenous Methylprednisolone‐Refractory Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder: Clinical and Radiological Outcomes in a Single‐Center Case Series

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is a relapsing autoimmune disease of the central nervous system. High‐dose intravenous methylprednisolone (IVMP) is the standard first‐line therapy for acute attacks, although some patients remain refractory.

Childhood obesity is associated with shorter leukocyte telomere length [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
CONTEXT: Obesity in adults is associated with shorter mean leukocyte telomere length (LTL), a marker of biological age that is also associated with age-related conditions including cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. However, studies of childhood

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Length-weight relationship, length-length relationship and condition factor of some fish populations in Büyükçekmece Reservoir (İstanbul, Turkey)

open access: yesJournal of Limnology and Freshwater Fisheries Research, 2016
In present study, length-weight relationship, length-length relationship and condition factor values were calculated for 11 freshwater fish species of Buyukcekmece Reservoir. Fish specimens were collected by gillnets having different mesh size between March 2009 and February 2010, monthly.

Movement of eelworms iii. The relationship between eelworm length, activity and mobility

open access: yes, 1958
Tracks were plotted of about 300 individual eelworms comprising six species among water droplets on a glass surface. Measurements of the tracks indicated that the product of length and activity of an eelworm divided by its speed was a constant.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
