Comparison of Different Locking Mechanisms in Total Hip Arthroplasty: Relative Motion between Cup and Inlay. [PDF]
The resulting inflammatory reaction to polyethylene (PE) wear debris, which may result in osteolysis, is still considered to be a main reason for aseptic loosening.

A paradoxical misperception of relative motion. [PDF]
Detecting the motion of an object relative to a world-fixed frame of reference is an exquisite human capability [G. E. Legge, F. Campbell, Vis. Res. 21 , 205–213 (1981)].

On the relativity of perceived motion [PDF]
Perceived stability of the visual world during eye movements is traditionally explained as due to the presence of extraretinal signals, equal in magnitude to retinal signals. Motion is perceived when the two signals differ. An experiment is reported in which motion thresholds were measured during smooth pursuit eye movements.

A semantic feature for human motion retrieval [PDF]
With the explosive growth of motion capture data, it becomes very imperative in animation production to have an efficient search engine to retrieve motions from large motion repository.

The relative motion of membranes [PDF]
AbstractThe relative classical motion of membranes is governed by the equation (w β cα c r βa)a = R δγβα r gb x δa p aγ, where w is the hessian. This is a generalization of the geodesic deviation equation and can be derived from the lagrangian p · ṙ. Quantum mechanically the picture is less clear.

Relative Motion in Spacetime [PDF]
In Minkowski spacetime, we consider an isolated system made of two pointlike bodies interacting at a distance, in the nonradiative approximation. Our framework is the covariant and a priori Hamiltonian formalism of "predictive relativistic mechanics", founded on the equal-time condition. The issue of an equivalent one-body description is discussed.

Linear cascades are commonly used as surrogate geometries when performing fundamental studies of turbomachinery blading. Several effects are not accounted for in linear cascades, such as the relative motion between blade and endwall. In this study, three

Identifying the mechanisms underpinning recognition of structured sequences of action [PDF]
© 2012 The Experimental Psychology SocietyWe present three experiments to identify the specific information sources that skilled participants use to make recognition judgements when presented with dynamic, structured stimuli.
