Inflation, Interest, and Relative Prices
The Journal of Business, 1979Irving Fisher ([1930] 1965) first elaborated the hypothesis that interest rates contain market forecasts of future inflation rates. If the market is efficient or rational, it makes the best possible forecasts of future inflation rates, given the information available when interest rates are set.

Relative Spread and Price Discovery
SSRN Electronic Journal, 2016We establish the importance of relative minimum price increments for price discovery in the context of a single asset trading at diverse venues. Our model relates relative spreads to directed information flows and begets a set of testable implications.

World Prices and the Relative Price of Agriculture
SSRN Electronic Journal, 2019Macroeconomists and growth economists often assume that the relative price of agriculture is determined domestically, and insulated from external forces. We examine this proposition empirically using panel data models with time effects and then an unobserved factor error structure.

THE CYCLICAL BEHAVIOR OF PRICES AND RELATIVE PRICES
Economic Inquiry, 2008Price and output shock correlations provide information concerning macroeconomic shocks. Previous research generally finds small or negative correlations between real gross domestic product (GDP) and GDP deflator shocks but positive correlations between industrial production (IP) and consumer price index (CPI) shocks at short forecast horizons.

Inflation and Relative Price Variability
Journal of Political Economy, 1978The paper develops a natural measure of the amount of relative price variability. The variance of relative price change is shown to be correlated with the rate of change in the price level using data for consumer goods in both the Netherlands and the United States. This association has been noted in other data for a variety of countries.

Relative Price Variability and Inflation
Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, 1991Regression studies have established that there tend to be convex, nonsymmetric relationships between relative price variability and the inflation rate, unanticipated inflation, and the change in the inflation rate. This paper shows that such regression results follow as "definitional artifacts" for a simple but quite general stochastic model of price ...

In viewing the time ahead, especially the next quarter century, I have been inclined to conclude that the industrial progress of India, China, Southeast Asia, and the major countries of Latin America are likely to produce a phase of rising prices in foodstuffs and raw materials and increased outlays to deal with the forces of environmental degradation.

Relative Price Variability and Inflation in Europe
Economica, 2000The relationship between inflation and the relative variability of prices has been the subject of careful investigation in the United States using data for product groups at the city level. Yet in Europe, where the relationship could have profound effects on the viability of monetary integration, no attempt has been made to study the relationship. This

Profit, Relative Prices and Unemployment: A Comment
The Economic Journal, 1982In a recent article in this JOURNAL, Morley (I979) argued that since the Keynesian revolution: 'The role of relative prices as incentives and signals for resource allocation has been increasingly ignored. Unemployment was viewed as a symptom of deficient aggregate demand rather than a disequilibrium ratio of prices.' He takes the view that 'departures ...
