Relative Aesthetic Quality Ranking

2018 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics (SMC), 2018
Given a set of images, we want to rank them according to their aesthetic quality, which is beneficial to various applications. Most existing methods consider aesthetic quality assessment to be a classification or regression problem, but describing aesthetic quality using absolute labels or scores is imprecise and unnatural.

The relative decision-making algorithm for ranking data

Data Technologies and Applications, 2020
PurposeDecision-making is always an issue that managers have to deal with. Keenly observing to different preferences of the targets provides useful information for decision-makers who do not require too much information to make decisions. The main purpose is to avoid decision-makers in a dilemma because of too much or opaque information.

Relative Ranks in the Monoid of Endomorphisms of an Independence Algebra

Monatshefte für Mathematik, 2007
If \(S\) is a semigroup and \(A\) is a subset of \(S\), then the `relative rank' of \(A\) modulo \(S\) is the minimum cardinality of a set \(B\) such that \(A\) and \(B\) together generate \(S\). In the paper under review the authors determine the relative ranks of the semigroup of all endomorphisms of a certain universal algebra (independence algebra)

The market’s reaction to changes in relative performance rankings

Review of Accounting Studies, 2019
The media commonly gauges a firm’s performance by comparing its performance to others within the same industry. We provide evidence that investors and analysts positively value improvements to the firm’s relative performance ranking (RPR) within its industry.
