Contact-line pinning controls how quickly colloidal particles equilibrate with liquid interfaces

open access: yes, 2016
Previous experiments have shown that spherical colloidal particles relax to equilibrium slowly after they adsorb to a liquid-liquid interface, despite the large interfacial energy gradient driving the adsorption. The slow relaxation has been explained in

A Microphysiological Interface of Skeletal Myobundles and Inflamed Adipose Tissue for Recapitulating Muscle Dysfunction in an Obese Microenvironment

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A human cell‐based microphysiological system integrates engineered muscle tissues with an inflamed adipose–macrophage niche to model obese microenvironment‐induced muscle dysfunction. Muscle contraction is quantified by pillar deflection coupled with computational stiffness estimation. Secretome and transcriptomic profiling reveal inflammation‐mediated

Suppression by NG-Nitro-L-Arginine of Relaxations Induced by Non-Adrenergic, Non-Cholinergic Nerve Stimulation in Dog Duodenal Longitudinal Muscle

open access: yesJapanese Journal of Pharmacology, 1991
In dog duodenal longitudinal muscle strips, transmural electrical stimulation (10 Hz, 15 sec) elicited a transient contraction, which was abolished by tetrodotoxin and atropine but potentiated by treatment with NG-nitro-L-arginine (L-NA), a nitric oxide (NO) synthesis inhibitor.
