Inhibition of Uterine Contractility by Thalidomide Analogs via Phosphodiesterase-4 Inhibition and Calcium Entry Blockade

open access: yesMolecules, 2016
Uterine relaxation is crucial during preterm labor. Phosphodiesterase-4 (PDE-4) inhibitors have been proposed as tocolytics. Some thalidomide analogs are PDE-4 inhibitors.

Nonexponential Relaxation of Magnetization at the Resonant Tunneling Point under a Fluctuating Random Noise

open access: yes, 2000
Nonexponential relaxation of magnetization at resonant tunneling points of nanoscale molecular magnets is interpreted to be an effect of fluctuating random field around the applied field.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Breaking the Cycle: How Fatigue, Cyberloafing, and Self-Regulation Influence Learning Satisfaction in Online Learning

open access: yesEducation Sciences
The transition to online learning has revolutionized educational experiences while introducing new challenges, such as managing fatigue and staying focused in digital environments. This study examines the relationship between fatigue, social cyberloafing,

Resonant Relaxation in Stellar Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
We demonstrate the existence of an enhanced rate of angular momentum relaxation in nearly Keplerian star clusters, such as those found in the centers of galactic nuclei containing massive black holes. The enhanced relaxation arises because the radial and

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Integrative Therapies and Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease: The Current Evidence

open access: yesChildren, 2014
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) primarily describes two distinct chronic conditions with unknown etiology, ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn’s disease (CD). UC is limited to the colon, while CD may involve any portion of the gastrointestinal tract from

Nuclear spin warm-up in bulk n-GaAs

open access: yes, 2016
We show that the spin-lattice relaxation in n-type insulating GaAs is dramatically accelerated at low magnetic fields. The origin of this effect, that cannot be explained in terms of well-known diffusion-limited hyperfine relaxation, is found in the ...

Equivalent relaxations of optimal power flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Several convex relaxations of the optimal power flow (OPF) problem have recently been developed using both bus injection models and branch flow models.

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐
